XP - very slow login! how can i troubleshoot?
got a thinkpad X31. the OS and software are packaged, so not like it's installed from original CD, etc.
what i want to know is how can i troubleshoot as to why the login is so slow! that's after doing the CTRL-ALT-DEL and entering the username/password. it is taking ages to login, both on LAN connection and no LAN connection.
i have flashed the BIOS and also using the latest IBM Access Connection which control the LAN/WLAN/local connections.
any ideas???

it's usually networky related - so i think you are on the right route. Are you trying to log into a domain - or local machine?
If it's local machine - one of the services could be failing to start - or is starting in the wrong order (from memory i'm afraid, can't remember which - look ing the event log).
Can you log in as another user? - your profile might be pooched.
Try setting a static IP on the network interfaces.
