Default Building a NAS device

Got a couple of old PCs (P2-450s) which Id quite like to turn into NAS devices as a cheap onsite backup solution with some new big HDDs.

Anyone know any free or cheap software to allow me to do this?

Just want to be able to plug the machines into an ethernet port and control it via http. Dont mind having to have a keyboard, mouse, monitor etc when setting it up but dont want to leave them there.

Alternatively are there any off the shelf devices that simply allow me to plug an ethernet cable in one side and a HDD in the other side that will do the job?

Paul..

A quick google gives a couple of cut-down linux based solutions...
