This is assuming Dell honour the orders though!!
We all remember a few weeks or so back when they made the **** up on their website and people could order (Amongst other systems) a Dimension 3000 with 15in TFT for £189 delivered. Some lads at work had theirs delivered but I know from various websites I visit,a lot of people had their orders very kindly cancelled by Dell!!!
Lets hope you get your servers uh?

Ordered by phone and confirmed 2 with 2.8 upgrades at £20 and got the ram upgraded to single 512 modules at £30 a pop

150 each +VAT then there was the extortionate delivery at £117, but still, a lot of nice kit for the cash

All I have to so is move my 1.2 terabytes of storage into it's new home over chrimbo.....

Damn drunken typos....

AFAIK, deals offered on the net are 'invite to treat' (I think is the legal term) which effectively means that they are under no legal obligation to sell it to you at that price. Once they take your money, THEN they are legally obliged to honour the agreement. Obviously it's something they are keen to avoid (bad publicity or lose loads of money!) but it covers them for making mistakes/typographical errors.

This was the real deal peeps. The servers were actually the correct price. Verified by our account manager yesterday. Also if you are signed up to Business contact email (spam ) from dell, it has it there as £99. Its all because its EOL stuff for dell and they were trying to shift stock before the new year.

I also happen to know some people have bought 6 of em !

Just spoke to our account manager on an unrelated matter and tried to squeeze another couple out of him but he told me they sold over 5000 in a couple of hours ! Was oringally supposed to last a week.

So what OS are you putting on their with it being a 64 Bit CPU. Putting 32 bit Windows XP seems like putting a mini engine in a subaru

Default Hmmm ...

I just spoke to Dell since I hadn't had any order number returned yet, it seems there was a "problem with the website" at the time and "everyone that ordered has had them cancelled, the emails will be sent out explaining today".

So it looks like they've gone back on their offer

Thats very bad because it was advertised as a genuine deal. I can see them caving in, because at the end of the day us enterprise people drop about 40K a year with em. Would they risk it ? Dunno

I phoned up to whine about having to pay £117 delivery on 2 units when I was about to place the order over the web and ended up getting discounts on cpu upgrades and on the additional ram which was a bonus. Purchased over the phone and confirmed, but as above,no physical order number yet (although they do state it can take 5 working days for this to come through).

I rang them today and was given my order number but was told that they have a shortage on a part and the estimated delivery date of 19/12 has been put back to the 31/12. The money has already been taken out of the CC. Hmmm.

If they've taken money from your card, then they have no choice but to honour the deal. If they have'nt they can do what they like.
