Default New PS2 anyone know where to get one?

My brother is trying to find a Playstation 2 (new slimline version!) to buy daughter for xmas. It seems it's one of this years must-haves!

I've checked all the usual retailers (online inc) and no one seems to have any in stock.

I just wondered if maybe I could find him one 'with a little help from my friends' on sccobynet?

Anyone know of one in stock anywhere please PM me.

Thanks

Jason

PS MUST be new slimline version!

apparently a large number were recalled, as sony at the 12th attempt still cant make a decent console. Laser issues again, i will be purchasing one after the dust has settled and chipping it.

as standard, probabily not much. . . .

a modded X-Box is fantastic!

It's like a media center - it can:

- Network to your PC - play movies & MP3's directly off ya PC
- Play DIVX and other movies in mpg format & codecs
- Play MP3
- Play downloaded software - opensource of course.
- use IMDB

loads more, but I wasn't at my friends house long anough to play with the rest of the features.

oh god you are kidding
the graphics are so much better its not funny
seriously set up a tv and both consoles running the same game like need for speed underground and then you will see what i mean. For fast moving racing games the ps2 really shows its age. Once an xbox is modded it is the bargain of the year. You have a multi media box with the ability to play divx, upscale source material to hdtv standards and given a cheap harddrive you can store your games or video on it for instant access
the ps2 is worth having if you have a lot of cash and want the tiny few exclusive games, but youd deffo want an xbox too. See tony hawks 3 running in true high def on an xbox and youd buy one
simple as that

Agree with the above, I was always a PS2 fan and thought xbox's were way overrated, I had one and sold it ages ago then played NFSU to death on the PC which I loved and then saw it running on a PS2, OMG it looked awful it really is showing its age now.

The only criminal thing is no GTA for xbox!

You've hit the nail on the head there me old mucka. GAMES CONSOLE. If I want to listen to music I'll listen to it on my seperates hi-fi, if I want to watch movies I'll fire-up the old cinema system and for downloading etc I'll switch the PC on.

As a pure games console only, I think the PS2 has the upper hand (forget chipping etc), and it has a much easier to use controller.

"tiny few exclusive games", you are kidding right

Gran Turismo, WRC, Tomb Raider, Resident Evil, The Getaway, Jack and Daxter (cant remember any more)

Now try a list of quality games with such history for the xbox?

Only a bit of fun by the way

I own all of the current generation of consoles. The xbox is far and away the best GAMES machine. I have a modded and standard Xbox. The modded box is simply my media centre PC.

I just don't get it when people still buy PS2's when the Xbox is the same price. Really who cares that the new PS is the size of a condom packet ...... it's still the same old console packaged better to make more money. You pay the same money for the games and you get better graphics with the Xbox Nuff said. I only kept my PS2 for GT4

Xbox controls for Tony Hawk are horrendous though, plus you can't play online with the Xbox version !

Sometimes it take more than 'pretty' graphics to make a game more playable...

mmm lets think PS2 for Gt games and some rally games. Alienware area 51m with 18x the memory of an xbox and a 1600 x 1200 screen. For everything else. Plus I can play farcry on the train.

Is the packaging the only difference on the new slimline PS2?

No new one has built in ethernet adapter, and infrared, for the remote control. due to new chip manufacturing techniques it runs cooler, so no need for a huge fan like the old one.

Do you work for Microsoft, you seem to have a rather worrying obsession for Xbox...!!!
