We got nowhere with the customer service number so after some hard searching we managed to track down their head office.. and someone is now investigating our "issue".

Ours was down tonight for around an hour... in fact, we have two connections coming in. One is a set top box 1mb and the other is a modem 650k. They were both down!
Money saving feature? Who knows... it has been on and off intermittently for about 2 weeks to be honest. Perhaps this is something to do with their upgrades to fall in line, no sorry, fall above, their competitors? We have been promised a new box to enhance our 1mb to a 1.5 mb but no call so far.
I'm paying £65 per month at the moment for a flaky service... who is to say I would receive better from another provider though
