Slow HP DLT VS80 when using BrightStor
Hi,
Hope somebody can help me with this:
I've just installed a HP DLT VS80 into an ML370 G3 and using CA Brightstor v11 it's painfully slow backing anything up (Windows 2003 Standard OS). The hardware looks to be working fine, I've downloaded a HP utility to test the speed of the DLT and it flew through the test reporting just under 6Mb/s. When using BrightStor though it backs up at 7MB/Min ???????
I think the problem is something to do with the blocking factor which should be 64K and looks to be set at 512K in BrightStor causing the drive to backup, rewind, backup, rewind, backup, rewind. I can see the blocking factor in BrightStor but I can't see any way of changing it.
Does anybody know how I can change the blocking factor in BrightStor? Or if there is anything else I can do?
Cheers.

Found a solution:
1) Download BrightStor device file patch QO54532 and apply it.
2) Use Regedit and add a value to the following key tree as a DWORD
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ComputerAssociates\Bri ghtStor ARCserve Backup\Base\TapeEngine\Device# (1 in my case)
The name of the item should be 'DefaultBlockFactor' and the value should be 7 Hex.
You can also set this value to:
0 - 512 (default)
1 - 1024 (1K)
2 - 2048
3 - 4096
4 - 8192
5 - 16384
6 - 32768
7 - 65536 (64K)
Drive is now doing around 220Mb/Min, sorted!
