Privateer
Any one remember this old game in the "Wing Commander" series.
Tried to install it recently ( just to have a laugh ) on my 2.7Ghz XP beast.
Damn thing would not run
Any ideas - is there a patch anywhere?
Cheers peeps

Try downloading DOSBOX - lets you run most old games etc with virtual drives and virtual CDROMS.
Then try abandonware as a search in google - that should give you access to thousand of old games.

I remember strike commander and it's stack of disks. ISTR that my 50MB disk was just enough to hold that and MSDOS. Top game though... groundbreaking graphics at the time.

Only problem with running the old games in video & sound compatibility normally the game wont detect the video/sound devices installed so wont run tbh, any legacy app that launches through DOS4/GW probably wont work too well.
My advice would be to knock together a cheap pc, have a look in the local rag for a 486 for £25, mind you these games are never as good as you remember, all the messing about you'll soon get bored!.
