New XBMC - can't stream via Relax or SMB
Hello fellow xbox'ers
I've taken the plunge and I'm now running Xbox Media Player and Xbox Media Center side by side on my xbox (installed into Apps/XBMP and Apps/XBMC respectively)
I am having all sorts of trouble getting relax to stream audio and video to XBMC yet it works fine with XBMP. The settings I have in XBMP are as follows for my shares...
For music
<share>
<name>House Media Centre</name>
<url>$ROOT$mp3@192.168.0.104</url>
<cachesize>8192</cachesize>
<share>
For video
<share>
<name>House Media Centre</name>
<url>$ROOT$video@192.168.0.104:1400</url>
<cachesize>8192</cachesize>
</share>
For XBMC I tried to create the following ...
I tried the following for xns (i.e. Stream from Relax as with XBMP)...
<music>
<bookmark>
<name>House Media Center</name>
<path>xns://192.168.0.4:1400/</path>
</bookmark>
.
.
.
<video>
<bookmark>
<name>House Media Center</name>
<path>xns://192.168.0.4:1400/</path>
</bookmark>
.
.
.
and I tried the following to use SAMBA shares (which used to be very very slow in XBMP as it points at my i-Tunes directory)
<music>
<bookmark>
<name>House Media Center (SAMBA)</name>
<path>smb://?????@192.168.0.104/audio/</path>
</bookmark>
.
.
.
<video>
<bookmark>
<name>House Media Center (SAMBA)</name>
<path>smb://?????@192.168.0.104/video/</path>
</bookmark>.
.
.
both options seem to connect ok - but they don't see any files or folders...
any ideas what could be wrong ???

Doh !!!
Got the SAMBA stuff working now...
seems it doesn't like the trailing slash on the end of the samba share url
This is a start - but I'm still keen to get RelaX working - SAMBA seems pretty slow when dealing with ID3 tags... xns servers like RelaX seem much quicker in that respect. Its strange now the XBMC folks are not suggesting XNS be used any more.
XBMC seems pretty cool - its great being able to get weather reports for Amsterdam and Jamaica - my too fave places in the world
Also need to get shoutcast stuff working again - documentation for XMBC is very sparse.

Cheers folks...RelaX and XBMP was never a problem it worked fine.
I am having to use SAMBA for XBMC as they reckon xns streams are flakey in the latest version.
I've also managed to get internet tv and radio working today...XBMC is very very cool.

Yep - saw some other threads on other some mailing lists. Just grabbed the latest XBMC and its very very good
Alos now using SMB instead. Much much quicker than it used to be.
