Talking Yay! My iPAQ2210 Has Arrived!

Hurrah! Tis a lovely little thing!

Downside is, it's gotta spend the next four hours charging in the cradle! Good job I've set it up somewhere where I can still play with it!

Wink

Tart!

Still wouldn't want to do the support calls to earn it though.

LOL I'd rather not do the support calls either but without 'em I think they'd be reluctant to pay me extra money!

Do you have a wireless card for it or GPS?

I've got a wireless card for it. Couldn't believe it when I saw one for £27!

I will, at a later date, get a GPS card (prolly the Haicom 303) and Tom Tom Nav2.

At the moment I am just setting up the basics to see if it can do what I want it to.

What have you got then, MJB?

I got one yesterday with TomTom 2 and a bluetooth GPS, cracking bit of kit. Used it this morning to get to work (sad) and it worked very well. It picked what I would say was the shortest route to work, not the quickest but it did handle all my changes to route with no problem. The TomTom car kit is a bit naff, the flexible arm vibrates a lot.

Good choice, I've got the iPaq 2210 as well. I've had the Axim/Toshibae740/tungsten t2, but the ipaq is by far the nicest

Also have tomTom, great bit of kit

now all you need to do is get pocketmvp and start ripping your dvd's onto it.
i can squash a dvd down to 170mb using the divx codec, looks great ( i have a couple at 100mb but the picture could be better)

I also recomend Pocket Informant for you organiser. this program is fantastic.

BTW where did you get the wireless card from, cheapest i can find is £65 for a Sandisk SD wifi card ?

I have a Rikaline BT gps receiver from Ebay for £130 never had a problem with it

Question

I've got one as well and am looking to get a wireless card for it. Anybody know if the D-Link CF card works with it ?

Cool

Jesus it got busy here all of a sudden!! Sorry - I've been too busy geeking with my iPAQ to check back.

Ian - don't worry mate, I'm not going anywhere without it! Don't suppose there's a hotspot in the Plough tho.

MJB - go for it! It is a very good bit of kit, but by no means perfect. I know I've only just got started, but I do keep coming across things that seem low on functionality, or unintuitive. This is probably cos I'm used to the Psion, and therefore spoilt! If you're still in the research stage I can let you have a bunch of links if you like. There's a huge amount of info out there.

Monkeh - it's the Ebuyer card. Works well enough so far. I've bookmarked Pocket Informant for download in the very near future. It's had good reviews and the inbuilt diary/task manager is pretty poor, really. <Wistfully thinks about the Psion's Agenda> As for the ripping of DVDs, well, I bought a 256MB SD card, so I guess I should look into that!

All in all, it IS a good bit of kit. The connectivity options are good (I've sorted out the Bluetooth connection to my phone today) and I'm sure I'll get to grips with the "handling" of it in time.

Iain

PS
The Psion would "have it in the twisties"
