Need some help with my ADSL Router...
I've the E-Buyer Router (Origo ADSL Router ASR-8400 4port)
Obviously, I've got the broadband bit working, as I'm typing this now
However, not sure how you set up, the other ports.
Presumably, I have to got to the "Advanced" section - however, upon pressing this action, the following comes up -
URL - http://admin:epicrouter@10.0.0.2/doc/advance.htm
The page cannot be displayed
The page you are looking for might have been removed or had its name changed. Please try the following:
Search button to look for similar sites.
Internet Explorer
So, what's the deal - any ideas on how to set up my other ports (XBox, PowerBook & G4)
Edited to add that I'm connecting to the PC using LAN. The only thing I can think of is that the "Advanced" setting is trying to go to an address where it thinks the Router should be, but it's not.
My reasoning behind this is that the URL points to -
http://admin:epicrouter@10.0.0.2/doc/advance.htm
Checking my LAN connection (XP) it says that the LAN IP is 10.0.0.14......
This is where I get stuck, as I've tried changing the IP# in the URL to 10.0.0.14, but no joy....
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance
Dan

- If you typed the page address in the Address bar, make sure that it is spelled correctly.

its trying to connect to the webserver within the router, so the ip should be whatever the router is set too. Just a thought but its not your firewall blocking you looking at it ? try disconnecting the internet side of the router, and then switching off your firewall and then testing the pages, you will have to close interent explorer if you had it open while the firewall was on, then re-open it. if you then can access it, its a rule within your firewall config messing things up.

try 'ping 10.0.0.2' from a command prompt and if you dont get replies it maybe something to do with the actual network setup.

I've managed to access the router now - just by typing in the IP 10.0.0.2 into the URL bar
I've got that bit sorted - however, I'm no clueless as to how to set up so that my laptop can access the internet.
Is it correct to assume that I just tell my IE to connect (via LAN) to the router's IP address?

not sure if you are running dhcp or not, but the laptop needs to have an address in the same range as the other machines in the network, but it has to be unique, no two machines can be the same. dhcp is the easiest way to do so if your not using it, I am sure the router has this option as most do. plug the laptop into your network, make sure you have obtain ip address automatically and obtain dns server automatically in your network settings, and then reboot it, you should not need to change anything else

dont just assume its not working if you cant browse the web, try using a command prompt and typing 'ping www.perl.com'
if that works and browsing does not then you may have a proxy server set in Internet Explorer if this laptop is used in a corporate environment.
