How do i make a profit?! Every year I seem to be losing money!!

 

Masssssssssive expansion.

Start a city , build a powerplant ( coal ) build large zones with just road networks , and the odd police/fire dept.

Fill zones nearest the powerplant with industry , outer areas a small commerce , outer still a large residential.

Build very few water pumps , you want them working around 85-90% capacity.

Sit back and watch the simoleans roll in.

Build the amenities once you have filled the map.

 

What about residential areas?

can't get it to work on XP ....... tried every patch under the sun .... shame..... when it first came out I was addicted to it ...

Turn off disasters !!!!.... unless u like them

Tips I follow ..
Water ... Electric ....... keep close eye on them .... monitor on a regular basis .. dont build residential near industrial ... separate with Commercial .... dense commercial near industrial follow out by light commercial then residential ... Formula seemed to work for me .. oh how I miss it ..

 

Quality game, what they said though, just don't build owt that pollutes near the city, make sure you've got all the neccesary emergency services and enough scattered about the city, have the landfill site miles away, make sure you've got decent water and electricty lines/pipes! Mmmmmmmm, might go have a quick blast now lol

 

I either lose money or get invaded. Im trying to build it like a grid but not doing very well!!!
