What's the latest on the IT job market? Are there any signs that the IT market is picking up? Last time I looked it was a big dollop of poo. I'm a techie (Oracle / SQL Server / ERP stuff).
I may be on the lookout before long due to big changes at work.

A big dollop of dogs stuff, or it was for the 3 months leading up to christmas. I was made redundant in September, and I (a few others also) was finding it difficult to even find jobs to apply for. I could usually find 1 a week to apply for, but then I didnt want to move or travel. Even the agencies I applied to, only dealt with me with that one job, and I never heard anything about other jobs from them, or maybe they have just changed from the last time I used them. Having said that I did manage to get another job.

At least I still have a job. They just want me to work 3 days a week from the head office which is 130 miles away. Not good for quality of life Just hope it picks up soon.

I've just found one near me - they want to pay £15,000 for a DBA - 40 hrs per week WTF. Is the market that bad? May as well learn how to drive a bus. Or maybe even be a plumber - I've been waiting in for one this morning and he couldn't be arsed to turn up

I'm still unemployed, but I live in a technical backwater although I'm managing to find a few a week to apply for.
Money is all over the place though, some companies are paying top dollar, others want a Graduate with 15 years experience able to Sys Admin, DBA, html, C++, make the tea, answer the phone and design nuclear reactors for £4.30 an hour.
The problem is, when you've been earning top dollar companies offering a lower rate don't want to know

from what i have seen , majority of "normal" companies want you to run the world do everything for poor money,
true in my case
where do you draw the line, i have had 12yrs in my place reached the top but its poor,
family time is the plus side as i can do as i please,
got a few friends , doing better finacially but work shed load of hours ,
me 37hours and its done unless it goes wrong, man at top only spends money when it goes belly up
do you jack it all in for something else just to get job satisfaction ?
