Start > Run > your_file.bat

Depending on how you've designed the batch file, you'll have a dos window which you can minimise. I'm sure there's ways to 'hide' this window if you don't wish to see it. This will obviously stop when it either has a problem or you turn off/reset your PC. You can have it automatically run everytime you start windows though.

it's a batch file with a few simple commands in it - ping etc..

I realise I can run it automatically but I dont want to see the DOS window every time.

the .cmd idea doesnt make any difference.

I cant run it as a service in XP because I cant add a service manually.

I need a universal method for 98 and XP.
