Question

Might be plumping for their reduced rate 'prime time' 2md ADSL deal.

Any good or bad feedback about them?

Go for the cheapest broadband can can get.

All of the various companies will use exactly the same cables/wires ans equipment etc. And no company is better than any other. So look for the best price.

(PS - I used to work for BT BB Tech Support).

The BT ADSL infrastructure may be the same but not all ISPs are the same! ISP's Internet connections (bandwidth) vary drastically from being virtual to multiple OC3 pipes. IMO you pay for what you get.

IMO Bulldog is excellent value for money! Pipex have a good deal on at the mo

ISPs worth considering

Bulldog
Nildram
Eclipse
Pipex

I looked at Nildram, Eclipse, Pipex and Bulldog.

Pipex worked out by far the cheapest for what I wanted (ie cheap service, 512kb, good connectivity to the world in general)

Whilst the hardware that connects you to the ISP will be the same, as has already been mentioned the connectivity of the ISP to the net in general varies wildly. The above 4 seem to consistently get good marks at adslguide.org.uk in most criteria.
