Opera browser...get it!

it loads the pages really quick and it also tells you the speed at which you connect to a page and also downloads files and pictures quicker too.

Opera seems to default to 'my documents'. Where that is depends on your version of Windoze.

Win2k\XP should be something like c:\documents and settings\%username%\my documents

Can't remember where ME/98/95 put it

Have a look in File|Preferences|Programs and Paths

Should tell you the download directory there.

Makes you realise what a piece of bloatware IE is.

I tried to use it and gave up. There were just too many sites that didn't work properly in it. Also it seemed a bit buggy. Not as bad as Netscape, but still pretty bad. Ie may be bloated, but at least it works most of the time...

I've never had a single problem with Opera - you are using the most recent version aren't you ?

You'll find IE bends a lot of HTML rules, so that certain code works on IE but not on Netscape, Opera, etc...

Admittedly it was a while ago since I used it properly (other than for work) so it may have improved since then. Didn't work well with my online banking at all though. It's sad, but a lot of sites out there use those bent rules that are in ie...

These incompatibilities are a real pain. Part of my job is coding web applications, and getting them too look the same in all common browsers can be a real problem sometimes...
