Hello all,

Is anyone aware of the circumstances that would cause the following problems with a previously-functioning installation of Office XP?

All documents in Word are now "locked for editing" when opened, and the Start/ New Office Document / Blank option doesn't actually do anything at all now. Most of the icons are greyed and nothing on the Edit dropdown is accessable.

Any ideas? Vaguely triggered a thought of templates, so I renamed a file called 'normal' to 'normal1' - no positive effect - and that's the limit of my knowledge!

cheers in advance
ian

Not sure, but I think if you use up all your goes before activating the software, you are then limited to opening and reading documents only, i.e. becomes a viewer rather than being able to edit, save, print etc.

Cheers

I renamed it normal1 with the original extension.
Showed as an additional option on the open doc menu.

I think it may be that it's not 'activated' - wasn't sure at the time of installation whether it had.
