Heard earlier today that somewhere down south a P1 had been written off at the weekend???

Anyone know who it was...is he/she a regular on the bbs??

I also heard that they had been injured??....are they OK now??

Either way, I feel for whoever it was...I was lucky, my car was only slightly damaged, and both me and my girlfriend escaped uninjured...

If you are reading this I hope you get better soon...if you know who the driver is...please pass on my (and no doubt everyone else one here) best wishes for a speedy recovery.

Hope whoever it was is OK and car gets straightened out soon.

 

It was one of our customers. He hit a manhole cover that had been lifted off in floods. The car went off the road and flew for 35 feet down a hill. He was OK until it landed and the air bags went off. These pushed his head through the window resulting in 40 stitches.

He is OK and full of praise for the car, to such an extent that he has already bought a replacement P1.

Hope he is ok, hope he is going to have some words with the council about dodgy manhole covers too!! their resposibility even if it is caused by floods, they should be checking for it!

 

Tony >>> I'm not saying the guy _was_ speeding or anything, but it seems like passing the buck to say that it might be the councils fault. Given that a manhole cover sounds like a fairly static obstacle, I'd expect a decent driver to be driving in a fashion to allow avoidance of such obstacles to be performed without flying off the road.

And that is now 3 P1's written off that I have heard about, so that's £90,000 worth or the equivalent of £90 on everyones insurance (assuming 1000 P1's). Hardly surprising that people are bitching about insurance is it.

Given that we only have a tiny proportion of the facts involved, I wouldn't have thought that there was enough to make any conclusions about who was to blame for the accident.

It's very easy to blame someone when not all the facts are known.

 

...and the manhole hole (sounds weird ) could have been submerged under a puddle. Never know. Let's not judge.

Sorry, I know accidents do happen, and the facts in this case are very sketchy. It just winds me up when some peoples response is just to try to remove responsibility from the individual, and lay the blame elsewhere (in this case with the council). It just seems at times that we're following the US down the "Claims Direct" culture.

Whoa guys

The car was virtually new, in unmodified trim, being run in by a fastidious owner on his third Impreza. The manhole cover was under what looked like an innocent albeit large puddle and smashed the wheel to bits, blowing the tyre.

 

and what's this with the insurance calculation? Can it really be that simple? I doubt it.

 

At least they got out OK!!!....... so thats the main thing. As for Insurance is'nt that whats its for??...... to replace the car??? I dunno some people are so blinkered and thoughtless at times!!!

Sounds like people are going off topic here and forgetting the real issue. Hope the driver and co. are ok and hope his confidence hasn't been broken. Accidents do happen guys and that is what insurance is for.
It would be interesting if possibly someone could mention how the drivers head went through the window due to the air bag going off. It sounds a little dangerous and i wouldn't particularly want to be in that situation myself.


Insurance wise,
I do not agree with the prices on Insurance myself - especially for age. Who can say a 45 year old can drive better than a 22 year old? Experience is a great thing, but so are quicker reactions But why get in a heated debate about it? Chill out
