Unhappy help with misfire plz

hi all am new to the forum and wondered if anyone could help
i have recently bought a my01 bugeye and a few days after getting it i could feel a slight misfire especially when pushing it in 3rd gear, then every so often the misfire gets worse and th engine light flashes then says on,
the car also feels quite flat even when you cant feel the misfire
i have taken it back to were i bought it and they said it was the coil packs and replaced them
2 days later the car was the same again
then they said it was the airflow meter and replaced that
2 days later the car is the same again, but now they are saying its not covered for this under the warrenty and they only didi it out of good faith
i have had it checked by someone else and am told they have changed the parts they say
any ideas on what to try next seeing as it looks like ill have to sort it myself now
beggining to wish id kept my revo'd golf

Try the plugs as a cheap first thing to try,Is it showing any fault codes.Often a misfire code is shown and its the neutral position sensor thats at fault.

I would be wanting to know why its not covered by the warranty?
And if you/ve had it a very short time and it was from a dealer I'd take it back tell them its faulty and not fit for the purpose it was sold for and ask for a refund,They'll probably want to fix it instead of refunding your money.

v5man on here had this problem with his and changed almost everything and couldnt cure the problem and it turned out to be a headgasget failure which is why i would insist the garage sorted it.

not showing any codes just comes up with misfire on 2,3 and 4
i have read the warranty and it covers hardly anything really its not worth having
it has just been serviced but they did this and before that it was all main dealer serviced

When my sport was misfiring, it wouldn't idle, cut out when driving and a whole list of other problems. In the end it cost me £1300, turned out to be the Cobra immobilizer, and I only found that out cos I had it removed so I could on a clean wiring loom to fault find.

Red face Misfire!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Surely when you bought it, it was serviced by the dealer before selling it to you, which I would assume includes the plugs, oil, air filter etc, check your paperwork, if not, the first place I would look at would be the plugs.
Also was the car standing around for a long time on the forecourt ?????
Maybe it needs a long run just to clear it out (unless you done that already!)

Kev.

Check your plug gaps...If they havnt been set properly when they were put in, then it has been known for the sparks to be "blown out" whilst on boost...

good luck

I'd check the plug gaps as J-K suggested. Try them at .7mm, check what grade they are and the boost you are running. Where are you based?

I had this after a service.

After ages and three goes at fixing it, the dealer admitted it was one of the plug leads at fault.
They replaced it, and it was sorted.

Look for simple things first, plugs, leads etc, esp if they have been disturbed in a service.

Ive just cured a misfire in my car which started back in april! Diagnostic didnt show anything and no lights were on.

First i changed the plugs - still doing it.

Then MAF - was fine for a week.

The garage gave me some old leads which they said were fine - still doing it.

I bought some new leads the other week - car fine.

Only cost £330 to fix!

changed the plugs and it seems to have got rid of the bad misfire and the engine light has stopped coming on
but it still hesitates and feels kind of like its missing when push it especially
in 3rd between 4k and 6k revs
