Thanks Lee, I was a little unsure on fitting flaps but I am happy with the overall look plus it'll stop dirt etc from being thrown up into the bodywork.
Unfortunately not Kev, it powers up gives all your details and then gives a goodbye message, you can press one of the buttons and it will go through the same process again but it never goes any further than that.
Thanks for the loan though as at least know I now that my only option is to go for Lamco or Defi gauges.
Thanks it does look shiny, in fact I surprised myself with how well it came up with some elbow grease.

I had same prob with mine after a while, it was a loose connection where it plugs in under the steering column, may be same problem?

I'll check the connections on that unit, I'd not thought of a loose connection.
The current PSI works fine so if there are any loose wires they will be on the old unit.
We had ours at the same time if you remember Si.

Those Osram Nightbreaker Unlimited bulbs are excellent as well Ian, I came home in the dark last night and they are very impressive.
Max was quite depressed seeing how much better the headlamps were in the classic compared to his Blobeye, so I think he is now going to get a set.

It must just be that it's just simply a nicer colour then, I knew there would be a good explanation for it.

There you go Brian, just make sure you go for the Unlimited version as they are the latest and better of the two versions of the bulb.

That is worth looking at but the unit doesn't power down, you can see the clock still running on the display. I think the unit must search for information and if it cannot communicate with the car then it just shows the clock as a default.

I've finally managed to source a set of Lamco gauges in black, I've got coming boost, oil temperature and pressure plus voltage.
So I'll be putting up for sale the steering column mounted Lamco gauge in white that I've got.
Also does anyone know of a dash mounted top pod that used to be sold for mounting the gauges in the place of the centre top storage?
I just need to visit the box I have and go through it.... I'll look when I get home tomorrow from work Ty

I have a twin plate clutch on my car but I am unsure of the brand, I thought the JDM cars had a twin plate clutch and the UK cars had a single plate clutch though.
As for the gearing I will have to check that out, do you have any in gear comparisons for mph for me to check against?

The general rule of thumb for the JDM 22B gearing is ~20mph/1000rpm in 5th, so the Type UK will be just short of 23mph/1000rpm. In other words 3000rpm in 5th is ~70mph, 4000rpm = 90mph...

The possibility of the rear lights being 'upgraded' to the more desirable JDM items and the 'ultra-rare' original boot badge going missing at some point, to be replaced by a readily available JDM badge seems quite understandable to me.
Two other things that would confirm it being a Type UK are 1. If it was first registered in '99 on a 'T' plate and 2. If it doesn't state on the log book that it was previously registered 'overseas'...
Just in case i'm right i've made an enquiry today with the original UK manufacturer of these badges:-

...to see if i can get a couple more made

They were all fitted with an STi/Exedy twin-plate at the factory, but this wasn't compatible with the taller UK gearing, so Prodrive had AP Racing develop an organic twin-plate to match the original 22B flywheel. These were then fitted by Prodrive while they were modifying the final drive of the 'box & rear diff:-

The more i look at it Tyron it seems more and more likely to be a Type UK...

If it is a UK car then great but if not then it's not a problem, I didn't believe that it was when the deal was done, and as they say what you've never had you'll never miss.
So what are the differences between a UK 22B and a JDM one?
Taller gear ratios, clutch and front adjustable headlights?
Are all the remaining mechanical parts (mainly engine/mapping and suspension) the same?

Today my floor mats turned up courtesy of Rob, they're in great condition and needless to say they are now in the car.
I've got the car booked into Indigo GT for a geometry alignment on their brand new Hunter alignment equipment, I'm looking forward to being able to use the great handling characteristics of the car and finally see what it's really capable of.
