Just A Little Taster...
Today my floor mats turned up courtesy of Rob, they're in great condition and needless to say they are now in the car.
I've got the car booked into Indigo GT for a geometry alignment on their brand new Hunter alignment equipment, I'm looking forward to being able to use the great handling characteristics of the car and finally see what it's really capable of.

Thanks for the info, I will have to take it onto the motorway with a Sat Nav so I can get an accurate average speed and see what the RPM lies at 70mph.
I would definitely want a replacement sticker as mine really has seen better days and in need of replacement, although it wouldn't be fitted until the refurbishment is under way.
Well again I would be interested in one of the Type UK badges as quite frankly the Japanese badges do look a little naff if I am honest.
If it is a UK car then great but if not then it's not a problem, I didn't believe that it was when the deal was done, and as they say what you've never had you'll never miss.

I'd like one of these but with a 'Type JDM' instead of 'type UK'.

After getting a chance to take the car for a sustained run at 70mph it is obvious that the car is a JDM model which has had some UK 'enhancements' fitted to it ie the foglamps, headlight adjusters plus the slightly different centre console area.
Like I have said before I am not disappointed with that as I never believed it to be a UK model anyway, and to me that model difference doesn't change the car one bit.
I have borrowed these pics from Merv as I really like the look of them and they made it look clean yesterday at Castle Combe even though it was dirty after the trip up.

Great to see the car yesterday
It got noticed for sure as speaking to a guy from one of the clubs in the paddock area yesterday was asking about it as its not a car that has been on the show circuit before.

Thanks Lee, the car looks great in the pics.
Thanks Kev.
It was squirelled away for years and saw very little use, I don't think the previous owner would have taken it to any shows as he wasn't into that aspect of car ownership.
I did speak to a few people about it and they seemed interested in the car and what it was, and how wide it is plus why it was built etc.
Hopefully the weather at Japfest will get better and I will spend some time cleaning it before and during the show.

So I have been asked if I can supply myself and my car to the aid of a wedding over the border in the Bristol area in September.
I have previously done this type of thing but quite a few years back when I had a very nice Renault 19 16v, back in the day it was a great car and easily better than a lot of the then hot hatches.
So the groom is looking for 3 x 22B's in order to ferry guests to and from the wedding venue and for some photo shots as well I believe.
So with the car that he has already arranged plus my car the lookout is now for the third and remaining car, I already have a car in mind but if anyone else has a suggestion for anyone else who can help then great - I don't suppose the groom would be too disappointed by the prospect of 4 cars instead of 3.
It came as a little bit of a surprise to me to be asked but I am happy to help out if I can.

Mine never gave me a moments trouble, I sold it and got a Mondeo ST24 and that was when the trouble started - lovely car but loads of electrical gremlins which you do not expect from a Ford.
The Mondeo got traded in for the worst car I have ever owned a Vectra 2.0 16v SRi, what a real pile of poo that car was - I am only sorry I never had the satisfaction of burning the steaming pile.

I think lots of petrol heads tend to go down similar routes and cars, we all have had Mk2 Escorts I would imagine apart from the young pups that is.
Never had a Cosworth though, I wouldn't of minded one when you could pick them up for peanuts but they would cost £12k to insure back in the day.

Myself and simb drove to Sheffield one wed afternoon and done a straight swap from mondeo for a crystal blue 2wd cosworth it was the best drive home we've ever had. Never had a mk 2 escort that's one that got away I must be a young pup yeaaaa

I always preferred the series 1 Chamade myself.

Thanks Glenn, it looks like that there will be 3 of us there as Rob (huzzy1) has said he's happy to help out as well.

Well today I decided to order some cleaning products in order to get the car looking it's best ready for Japfest.
I have ordered after carrying out some online searches:
Sonax Xtreme Wheel Cleaner
Dodo Juice Red Mist Tropical Protection Detailer
Meguiars Lambs Wool Mitt
Meguiars Soft Applicator Pads
Meguiars Water Magnet Drying Towel
Meguiars Ultimate Wax
So I will get the wheels off one night after work and give the wheels a damn good clean as after two road trips the inside of the wheels are filthy, I have some Poorboys wheel sealant but forgot about applying it when the wheels have been off previously.
Then on Friday I will give it another wheel clean, wash off, snow foam, wash off, hand wash, dry off, coating of wax and then hopefully at Japfest a quick going over with some detailing spray and sit back and watch the fruits of my hard work.

As I am on call this weekend and can't really do much I decided to give the car a wash, and then as I couldn't be bothered to dry it off I took the easy route and took the car out for a drive.
It's surprising how easily the water beads and runs off the car when it's waxed.
These aren't great pics as the sun was setting and it was overcast but they will do until we can organise a proper photo session with the other cars in SWS, our resident paparazzi has said he will do the honours when we are ready.

Saw Rob's new Prodive mats in my old ride on FB and wondered what he done with the old ones! These are like rocking horse sh*t Ty, keep hold of them as they are genuine Subaru/Prodrive and were one set of 3 a mate found at Prodrive!
I have the other two sets in the genuine Subaru bags in storage for my retirement lol... Never seen another set ever!

Glad to see you loving 22B life too!
As per your post above with the 22B foglight covers, the genuine screw to hold them on is exactly the same as the P1 driving light cover screws. 22B's are about attention to detail so thought you would be happy with this info.
Took me a long time to piece my old 22B back together, I also have alot of information and some 22B things remaining in the shed.
Shame on the BBS centre caps Ty, sadly was the first thing I noticed. I did have a spare set in the shed once! Think they have been sold but I will check for you just in case...
Oh and the genuine centre caps are carbon fibre, not plastic as you said earlier!

Those mats will be worth a lot already if not even more in the future due to the limited market who will want to keep their cars as original as possible.

I have just read through your entire post mate and I am impressed as a 22B guru with you wanting to put it back the way it should be! I have also answered my own questions re mats!!!

The whole thing I suppose is attention to detail as you have said, it's the smallest details which do get noticed first.
I did get a new fog lamp cover screw, the price wasn't that bad really from memory it was £3.20 inc VAT. That may seem expensive for one screw but the fact the wrong one was fitted stood out to me, to someone who didn't know or realise then ignorance is bliss as they say - but once you know then it bugged me every time I saw it and drew my attention.
The car is coming off the road in October for a strip down and repaint, there are certain areas of the car which need attention so once it's started all the subframes, brackets etc will be powdercoated, the bolts, screws and nuts etc will have a clean up and fresh coating of zinc.
I didn't realise about the centre caps being carbon fibre, I did contact BBS in Germany about a set but they weren't interested in the slightest and basically told me to go away.
