No, I'm sure there are way more Android Tablets and way more Android and in fact Nokia phones. But what's being pointed out here is although they've been sold - for peanuts - they're not being used. This is backed up by my own evidence on 9 relatively high traffic websites, without advertising.

Ok let's stop this crap right now. If you want to compare market shares do it based on an individual product, i.e. iPhone 5 vs GS4 vs Lumia. Of course Android has achieved a higher market share than apple, it's an operating system used by more companies than I can be arsed to count.
I have to say I have not used Android, but I have an HP Elite pad running Windows 8 and it is a total joke compared to this Ipad
Horses for courses and for no fuss sofa surfing the IPad/iOS is streets ahead of Windows 8

I could manage without the ipad, but I couldn't manage without my laptop.

My S4 just works, what's your point?
My wife has iPhone 4s, prefers mine and will go Android next time. My niece has iPhone 5 and thinks my phone is better but glibly afmits she would stick with Apple because "it's Apple" which shows how good Apple marketing is as opposed to their products.
Geezer

Android is a faffy PITA aimed at geeks. It's geeks that bang on and on about how much better anything but Apple is. Meanwhile others just get on, happy with what they chose.
Marketing has naff all to do with our move from Android/PC to iPhone/Mac - we changed because the Apple stuff works better with our business. The only thing I still don't get is the tablet market - I see no point whatsoever and have zero desire for an iPad or similar.
Although everything you said about the ipad is equally true of an Android device and Google Cloud.
Suckered into buying one since it was reasonable price* and desktop was dying/dead. Of course it doesn't replace it and I probably need laptop as well, but in meantime I can do almost everything with just this and the phone
*Clearly not an ipad

Point is though, you still need a proper computer as well
And also a slightly bigger phone would I reckon replace the tablet

I don't need a slightly bigger phone because I have an iPad. Used a S4 today, whilst very nice it was a bit too 'in between' for me.
I definitely need a Laptop, I develop web sites so have to see them as the customers do, but there are just as many tasks I can do on my Tablet that I can't do on my Laptop.

We bought an ipad last Christmas, I agree it's the best of the tablets, but its not without its faults and I haven't been as impressed as I thought I'd be. Safari locks up and crashes on a pretty routine basis, despite a soft reset. We've encountered a number of websites where the ipad doesn't function properly, usually when trying to order or buy something. I expected the ipad to make my laptop redundant for surfing but this hasn't been the case.

Maybe try the Mercury browser (quite good, and can be configured to destroy ALL browsing history when closed, quite useful when using he wife's iPad)
But I am always v wary of updating the OS
