Fantastic job indeed, they look brilliant indeed.... I never realised that about the decals you learn something new everyday.

Many thanks for refurbishing these Ryan they will really add to the car when it's back on the road top job that man

Tbho when I first looked at them,it was just a quick glance really and I thought yep they will do just fine,it wasn't until I had the base coat on and wanting to apply them that I realised they were for the later ones like I used to have.

A small update again tonight.... Other than saying the white finish is a Zinc Phosphate coating I'm letting the pictures do the talking

They calipers really do look far better than the photographs can show, I liked them so much that Ryan is now going to do mine in the same colour.

I should have checked the beggers myself as well it's nothing I can't work around Ryan there's always options. Looking forward to getting my hands on them

Those bead blasted and coated parts have come up well.

When I was around earlier some of the bits look like the day they were pressed new from the factory.

Now where do they all go

Looking good Si. love the calipers, be a shame to get brake dust on them.
You'll be using the baby wipes in the glove box for different purposes now ....

I cannot tell you how envious I feel about the effort and time you're able to plough into this project, not to mention the money.
Everything I look at on mine that has some corrosion or could do with replacing, I can see yours looks like brand spanking bloody new!!!!!!!

Unreal Si, different class!!!

They should be together for the duration I think, in many respects Dylan no different to how they do the OEM finish around them. I can get a small abrasive tube brush if ever need to that will fit into those heads and clean them out... You would be surprised in the world of brushes what is available

Thanks S.J Ryan has done a fantastic job on them, they are in my hands now and I cannot tell you just how good they are, I have an eye for detail it can be a bad trait but I can't see anything to pick at with them at all I made a mistake with the decals but I am wondering now if decals on top may be better as I can refresh when needed... Going to drop a gent I know that's good with decals a line to see what I can organise as I have an idea if it will work.

Scott Poorboys wheel sealant is the way forward, it's great but never ever let it dry... Straight on straight off and it does a top job.

Cliff thanks and I know what your saying there and the budget is a sensible level plus it's all about preparation and time which is free for me. We shall have a chat at Uxbridge .... I don't know where I am in man hours I can't even tell you when I had that van on my driveway as I'm knackered now and it's all blur but I do know its 8.30 most nights before I shower and sit down.

When these blasted bits go to paint I'm taking a short break and then I need to port the headers and a few other things but nothing big now. For me dedicating time and ploughing in works, it was always my intention just to keep going until I finished what I felt I needed to do as I did not want to have stuff dragging about for months on end as that would have sucked the life from me plus the weather recently has helped me so much.

Another job I've not mentioned will be getting the engine de greased and cleaned before it goes back into the car.

Thanks though gents the great comments push me forward no end

Better finish on thoses calipers than most cars
Getting the bolts undone would be no different at all compared to factory but I see no reason why you would or should need to part them when I did during the refurb and they are mint.

Bloody hell Simon I didn't realise just how much you had actually done I drop in now and again, but i have just fully caught up with it and I must say its a top job bud :thumb; really and truly : trouble is now you got me thinking, which gives me nose bleeds

Will get in touch with Simon today to find out about that company for you

Nice to know them callipers were as mint as they looked when you had them, glad all is coming together for you bud, that is going to be one of the finest examples of an ra on the road by the time you have finished with it without doubt!

Small update today again and I'm pleased to say the spit has arrived to mount the shell on so my car is the next job in line, I feel Craig is quite looking forward to getting into this because of the project it is and the shell is in great condition so no cutting or filler will be needed. He has also told me today that he's removing the vent and re painting the roof because he wants to
The wings will be removed for this part of the job to gain access.











Now back to Ace for a few engine shots... An oily mess I think you will agree.
The initial basic plan is to simply change both rocker cover gaskets plus I need to source replacement power steering pipes as we feel there is a leak from the area. There is a fair bit of oil on the one side of the engine so until I give it a good degrease and clean we will not see it all fully but I feel after the jobs above I see no reason not to drop it back in and get some miles on the car. The engine then will then be a project for another day.





























The good thing about this is with the engine on a stand I can flip it on its side the degrease and hose off, when I did my old one it was a tight fit under the bonnet but with this access plus the angle I can set the engine to will be great.













This is the pipe work I need to source....

That car of yours is something else in all fairness frayz, I'm not overly keen on the bugs, but that I would take in a heartbeat :luvlove just a shame my pockets don't run that deep

Well personally I think the approach you have is the right one. But given the chance is give it the full, strip, built powdercoat treatment.

Lol @ title. Title of most money thrown at a bugeye?

Funny enough that's what everyone says. "I don't usually like bugeyes, but I like yours" lol

A good strip and degrease will be the way forward. I'd also look into updating all that early PAS reservoir to a later setup. They're known to leak even when new

Well I've not got fed up I've been on holiday so now I am home it's back on the tread mill once more, all of the blasted items have been painted apart from the rear cross member as I have to buy another tin of paint for that as a litre was not enough so that jobs about cracked and I am looking forward to seeing the results I have to admit.

Jobs for this week will be the order the bushes off AS Performance in preparation.

Phone the Craig at the paint shop tomorrow as he did say the shell should be finished on my return.

Phone Ace up as I did ask for the engine work I needed to be done while I was away which will then allow me to book a day off and go and de grease and clean it down.

I have a few more items at home to clean and the headers to port and wrap.

Does anyone know if the OEM down pipe off my old MY00 and the OEM MY95 are the same fitment ??

Frayz I was lucky enough to pick up the entire PS set up off Dylan's RA, pipes, pump, tank and pulley all intact so that will be swapped as a full unit and its bone dry so no leaking at all.
