If its not there I'll have to get mine welded up.... I'm in two minds if I let Lee have it when he had the car but until I go digging in there I can't be sure.

Also just remembered I need to sort out the zinc coating this week as well.

Zinc coating of bolts? have you had any quotes at all? I'm thinking of doing the same or swapping out for anodized. Either that or trying out a DIY kit but that sounds too good to be true.

I'm going to try these as they are 40 minutes away in the car, I had a talk with the guy a while back and he was very helpful indeed.

http://www.avonelectroplating.co.uk/zincrack.php

I'll confirm the prices and let you know but from memory it was £25 plus vat per 25kg batch.

The bottom of the shell is in primer I'm pleased to say, no pictures as yet but when I get my camera back when it's finished there will be plenty to see

Scabbing through the last few boxes of bits again tonight

These are proving challenging to clean out.... An hour later gets me this but I can't get into all of it so I will have to try and get some kind of brush in them.

And then the final box of scab

Micky no mate honest

Quite surprising to me they are the wrong way around to what I would imagine, the square tank that fits behind the drivers head lamp is for the windscreen and the belly tank that sits on the passenger arch if for the intercooler.

I dug deep this afternoon and got back on plan here for the final home prep push as I can see my finishing line at least.

Made use of this in work this afternoon to de grease all the Brembo fittings.

Before.

And after.

Then at home started on the last box full....

Great to have the terminals off to clean they are always rotten dirty and difficult to get to..

Then a small assortment of items all prepped ready for paint tomorrow...

Also this weekend I will be attacking the exhaust headers removing the shielding ready to wrap them plus I will be having a go at porting them.

I've also got a new set of these ready for rebuild

Thanks Rob I'm getting closer now, the plan is to hopefully get all the bolts etc down to Western the early part of next week for zinc coating, then the week after I will take a couple of days off to clean the engine, collect the bolts and also I maybe then able to take everything back up ready for the final stage.... Assembly keep your eye in here in a week or so as I will hopefully have my camera back for lots or body work pictures

Had another go today.... A little warm it has to be said but plod along slowly is the moto

At what point does a sane and logical person say ok it's f***** and beyond repair

When I got the car they had fitted a de cat down pipe as there was a leak on the OEM one but on the way home the cell light came on as these early cars do not like running straight through without mapping. I did bring the OEM pipe home with me as I wanted to re fit it, so today I removed the shield to see the extent of the rot.

I do enjoy a challenge

Headers....

Turbo pipe...

I'm removing all the shielding from those two and will clean up port the headers a little and heat wrap.

Now I did think I had given my old MY00 UK down pipe away because I could not find it but I dug deep under the cobwebs in the dark recesses of my shed and found it ! The size shape and fixings are identical but the sensor is different, I need some advice here, what sensor is it and will the MY00 one fit the 95 baring in mind the sensor is deleted and I believe I need that in order to have the cell light fix.

Here's the both of them together...

00 on the left 95 on the right..

The UK pipe has a sensor on the top where as the RA one does not....

Suggestions gentlemen please

Welder at the ready

That's the one end sorted then Stu

I've no plans as yet to have the car mapped I want to get some miles on it and enjoy it, I've also been reading that the RA has a very aggressive map on it to suit the model and I may be talking rubbish here but it would be a shame to loose that characteristic.... So sensor is the question

AFR is nice to know even on a standard car but a butt plug is a damn sight easier and cheaper Check the size but I am sure that's the right plug

Mystery of the disappearing part today.... I un-clipped the fuel filter to paint the bracket and baring in mind.. Garage work surface... Shed to clean... Greenhouse to paint and now I only have half of the bracket, the part with the clip on that is.... The other half has vanished I have looked everywhere and cannot find it !! How mad is that

I shall be re tracing my steps yet again tomorrow
