yep, some good reviews.

the guy i th eshop was telling e he knows a guy who'd fitted two lipo batterys (piggy backed) on the car.. sees 70mph!! and longer running time
70mph i'm not bothered about.. but the batterys you can get from germany for abou £20 each... making the nitro seem expensive and mess (IMO now)

Yeah hes probably running it at 22.2v (6s) but things will break doing that as there is so much torque from the motor, i normally run my revo at 14.8v (4s) and its more than fast enough, running at 22.2v it's just insane and you need a really big area to get even near full throttle

I would never go back to nitro now, i charge up my batterys the day before, its then just a case of switch on and go

For me Nitro was too much hassle, i had a savage which i tuned up perfect but weather conditions can change the tune, they can be a pain to start and the fuel always seemed to get everywhere even though i was very careful

BUT.....nitro can be a pain and I imagine the new electric stuff must be easier to use. I think if I was to start again I would go brushless.
What's the deal with charging the Lipo's? I remember hearing that it can be quite dangerous and they can explode if not charged correctly.

^^^ already on that forum
the lipo's
was told you gcan get them cheaper at HobbyKing, but what battery LiPo could I put in a XTM Rail?
I take it they don't come with batteries?
and do you need a different charger for different size/power LiPo batteries?

To be fair that might be a characteristic of the Savage. I know a couple of people that ran savages and they were constantly messing about with them whilst the Traxxas boys were racing.

If you got a charger like this http://www.modelsport.co.uk/ansmann-...products/38403 it will charge 99% of all batterys and it can run off mains or 12v

The re-release Hornet is virtually identical to the 80's original and fairly reasonably priced. The only difference I can find is the replacement of the 2nd servo and speed controller with a basic electronic jobby. Handling is still just as crap, but it a fun way
I gave my original smashed up one away, regretted it a few years after and my Wife bought me the re-release one Christmas. Great fun to build and sticker up. I'll try and dig a picture out.

Optima and Op Mid prices are through the roof right now. Looks in good nick. The one I bought is pretty much knackered and I'm building one basically from new parts off ebay.
Salsa - car looks OK to me - did you ask about parts availability? I would buy some BIG tie wraps and put them round the frame with the "heads" pointing out. That should protect the shiny cage from scratches.
As for Nitro Vs Batteries. Batteries is less hassle but you don't get the noise. When I was racing 1/8, I'd spend one night stripping the car and one night putting it back together - 6pm till 12 easy.
I personally wouldn't bother with an 1/8 scale car of any type without nitro - just not as much fun. Only use batteries for 1/10 on and off road.

Found a couple of pics of my working Tamiya RC's.
The layout of the new Hornet is much easier than the original without all the resistor speed controller crap. It still has the weak chassis point behind the front shock tower though, I went through several tubs as a kid.

yep, asked about parts and said no problem, they can get stuff a new part on the frnt if you break it (something to do with the steering) was £6.49 a pair and are uuniversal left/right fitment.
also said a load of BLINK bits can be bought.. side rails in various colours £9.50 a side
the more I see this buggy the more i lik eit, its a bit like a Baja HPi car... and they look cooool... but cost a lot more.
http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_...rt-24Ghz-Radio
i keep ready good reports about it.
for me it looks awesome with the cage style, not worried about scratches... thats whats it's there for.
For whizzing round the garden and on B&Q car park, i think it will be just fine.
I might even get another body panel and spray it up another colour..... like HOT PINK

Just bought this. Didn't really mean to spend that much.
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...=STRK:MEWNX:IT
Means the Vanquish will have to go on Ebay as soon as its rebuilt to offset the cost of the Egress. Should be able to make enough on the Vanquish to soften the blow of the Egress. Still if the Dynatech motor is minty mint thats about £50 on its own.

I'm getting the urge to buy something now, quite like the look of the Ansmann mad rat on modelsport - lot of car for about £50, can't really use the hyper in the garden - it was more of a lawn rake anyway when I tried it!

The Egress is the one I wanted. The Vanquish was just a punt and the guy selling it as part of a job lot didn't know its true cost.
Vanquish needs a new shell and tyres to be mint but that will eat into the profits. Will rebuild it and make it nice and put it up on ebay.
I think the next expected Re Re is the Astute.
I've added up all the bits I want for my Optima rebuild and its about £600 - ****!
I've also got hold of a copy of Radio Race Car International October 1989 which is the very first copy I bought and it has the Egress review.

I'm trying to find out the colour used so I can copy it for mine.

Heres my collection, been into it since my dad got me a Tamiya Holiday Buggy when I was about 3 in the early 80's.
The Tamiya Porsche 959, Got this again as a child in the 80's when it was released, I completely destroyed it as a child but saw sense about 8 years ago and did a full restore - its basically a new car, only thing that wasnt replaced was the aerial mast and a few nuts and bolts. Its on a team Bluegroove repro body and decals, couldnt bring myself to risk painting the original body I got for it, if you hadnt guessed - this ones a shelf queen:
This is another one I picked up off eBay that im restoring as a runner as they are really good cars, very fast and handle well, the body came like that! Its an original though in near perfect condition so its going to get the DOT 4 brake fluid treatment and hopefully it will come good:
Another shelf queen, its a re-release, never been run:
Got this one for Christmas, re-release of the first car I owned:
Nice modded Kyosho Mini-z:
HPI Rally, had this a while now:
Another Tamiya work in progress, picked this up off here a few years back - the chassis it came with had wood screws holding it together?! So I managed to pick up a bare fully ballraced rolling chassis off eBay, I think I will try and get it up and running this summer:
Last but not least - The Ho Bao Hyper 7, excellent car and shifts!
My dad also has one of these and is currently doing a full restore on a 959, his collection puts mine to shame though!
Cheers,
Ayde.

What's the blue pipe sticking out?
I have a Hyper 7 but can't get it to stop, tried adjusting things but still it doesn't want to stop any advice? or do you know where there is some help so I can check mine has been set-up properly? I bought it off ebay and the guy said he had fitted new servos.

Here are some pics of my CEN Racing 2 speed nitro car I had about 6 years ago
Looked like this when I first got it
Then I bought a bugeye shell for it and gold wheels and road tyres so it looked like a WRC car. It had little to no grip like that and shredded the tyres. No pics with the gold wheels on. I then trimmed the arches of the shell and fitted the original wheels back on and it looked like this
It was fantastic like this and went anywhere. I got bored with it after a couple of years and gave it to my brother when I moved house. Quite fancy an electric one next for less hassle with fuel etc.

ScoobLou, the blue pipe is a silicone exhaust extender, only a couple of quid, it stops all the crap out of the exhaust going over the rear wheel/tyre/suspension. You may be better looking for set-up info on the modelsport forums, there is an American fella that also posts on YouTube - set-up guides, run in/tuning guides etc... Pretty detailed and very useful.
Do the brakes deffo work? If you move the servo by hand are the wheels locking up?
