I suffer chronic pain syndrom caused by nerve damage in my lower spine. I also have 2 smashed discs in my spine which is why the nerves are damaged , but also trapped between the disc , the vertibrai and the spinal cord. I causes my left leg to go weak and numb ( when bad ) and my mucels go into spasam and cause my lower and upper back to twist in different directions causing more pressure on the nerves. I have to take a massive amount of medication to supress the nerves , so that I can function to some level of normality. When I choose a car I have to think carefully about the pedel layout , the seats and finally the amount of space ( I'm just over 6.4 ). Also a good layout of the dials/buttons is a big thing for me too.

I use to have an MX-5 mk1 and you sit slightly twisted and after driving for just a few mins like this would end up causing massive amounts of pain and make my back twist in opisite directions from top to bottom ( Like wringing out a cloth ).

With my P1 everything is ideal for me. It's big enough for me to be comfortable , the bucket seats support my back and lower legs well , the short shift gears allow my arm to be at a comfortable position. I am able to drive for a good couple of hours with out needing a brake because of pain or numbness in my left leg. Finally the lay out of the peadles and the weight of resistance is just right for me.

I hate the term disabled, rather be called injured but yeah- last may broke my neck and back (rta), and broke back again in June- in a wheelchair for life with no movement under my chest- arms work but a bit dodgy right shoulder.

Currently have a 2010 Volvo v70 r design.

Did post on here that I want a auto impreza as I used to have a wrx import, but no one responded. Was after any info on them at all- performance/ ownership/ cost/ which models- any help???

Will keep an eye on the thread as I use hand control so if people wanna know anything.........

Hi matt, I have got a good contact with a mobility company who could fit hand controls on any car for you and make it compatable

Cyclone Mobility or Diamand Mobility I would recommend

the guys at cyclone have got a scooby with hand controls and that on it

Part of my spine is 'cemented' together due to a riding accident that broke it, and also have 4 crushed discs in my lower spine, not sure if this counts? I still work so i dont really count myself as having a disability although i feel i do most days! And will prob be on my meds for life. 2 weeks after i came out of hospital i got 'transported' up to pod and physically lifted into my car because i wanted to run it lol, ran a 12.9 which happened to be my best time aswell!

Hi disabled Dave

I am ok with hand controls- very used to them but haven't got the hand function to operate gears on top of push/pull lever and trucker ball- hence looking for an auto scooby or option of fitting a rave spec into manual. Problem is I can't find anything out about it!!!!

Thanks for the pm-doney days on track as I used to race motorbikes up
Until I was paralysed..... Thanks though!!!

Any recommended impreza specialists in autos/ or in general that could help that you know about??

P.s for record disabled ppl do work- I do full time - I get myself there n back and even wiper **** in the morning! Mo different than before just always got a seat and worth 100k+ in metal now

Probly cyclone mobility would be the best to ask who does their mods and that

I can also recommend rick macdonald wheely on gtroc or mad4itboyo on the MLR and evoowners.co.uk

Matt its just to come up and watch the trackday I was asking you if you fancy it

We used to look after a triptronic auto scoob for a chap with one arm. The OE gear change is on the steering wheel. Car went very well too!
