I was just thinking the same thing.

Is our schooling system really that ****ed up that we have these sort of morons roaming our streets unable to string a meaningful, grammatically correct sentence together?

No wonder Mr Freeloader neil1980 can't get a job.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rOY9SNExKrQ (1 of 6 parts)

If you look past the "immigrants taking our jobs" part and concentrate on the mind set of some of those long term unemployed, that despite what they are saying, they do not want to work or moan that the work is too hard or they don't like the type of work. Now when you times that by few hundred thousands, consider those that make a career out of claiming benefits and those who've never worked, it will be a huge task getting some of these people to work.

Obviously this isn't to say that all unemployed are like this, but it gives you some idea of what this country is dealing with.

£5.80 an hour may not sound much but once you get into a company and show you are a hard worker you can soon move on to higher paid jobs that are often only advertised internally. In my previous employment I started of on £4 an hour back in 2000 I showed I was prepared to get my hands dirty an ended up with I job where I was taking home £600 some weeks.

Even when I was made redundant I did not sit around on my *** I signed up with an agency and took any work which was offered, from packing teddy bears in a factory, to delivering white goods and even strimming hedges for the highways (fun when you hit a bag of rotting dog ****) . None of them were great pay but I would rather my son see me going out an earning a living, than sponging off the poor sods that work.
I got my work ethic from my Dad and I sure gope I pass it on to my son.

Seeing as I'm a hard working tax payer, you're possibly quite correct.

Quite right. Also, not all low paid jobs may be where people wish to stay (progression or not) but it surely looks better on a CV than a big gap where someone has been on the dole instead (as so many people think they are above certain jobs). It surely shows a persons willingness to work at anything and I would think that would be an attractive quality to a prospective employer.

Unfortunately the career scroungers wouldn't care about any of that as they have no intention of working. These are the people the focus has to be on.

I do feel sorry for people who want to work, but are in the situation of being better off not, and claiming benefits instead. I think this is an area that needs looked at. As I've said before, that shouldn't be a situation people are faced with if the government claim to want people in work. Stop paying out huge sums to those who don't want to work and spread some support to those in lower paid work/to get those who want to work into work and be able to afford to do so.

That all seems perfectly reasonable to me.
