Good luck, personally I would have driven down there on low rpm / low load and off boost, rich is better than lean, and I doubt a shortish journey would cause any serious problems (such as bore wash/etc.) - don't take my word for that though ;-) - main thing is you should be mapped by now, so WTF is the dyno saying?

Immy's result from today.

Could do with a nicer cold fed induction kit, but all in all not a bad result.

The printer ran out of ink so Graham has been good enough to post it up for me.

I am very happy with the car, it pulls relentlessly through out the rev range. The car is an absolute animal now and spool up is crazy it feels like the oem setup with minimum lag. Only regret is not going for a CAI for the extra bhp and ltb.

Hks mushroom filter mate. inlet temps are quite high due to the metal pipework and the mushroom filter being in the engine bay.

I Should of got a CAI!

Congrats! Looks pretty nice. Didn't quite hit 420, but it looks very smooth and power comes on nice.

Just get some E85

I was never aiming for 420

It's the spool up and response, I can't see myself breaking any records with an extra 20bhp.

Am over the moon with the way the car drives and feels.

Maybe with the new housing I might of got the extra numbers, but eitherway am very happy with the outcome.

Easyest way of getting spool up is add a meth map mate

I've seen Meth can do and don't want to risk it with such a rare car

It's very quite in here all of a sudden

It's when left sat in tank a long time or if octane booster added too that problems occur but for a few spirited drives the meth additive is hard to beat

Change the flter for a large RCM cone and get a dedicated cold air feed to it,the hks sponge filters are poor and best left for the supra and skyline boys who seem to favour them, not a bad result tho mate really.

I was thinking about Meth, it works out cheaper with all the money saved over the v power.

Hi,

good result.

We have the perrin cold air induction kits in stock, when you pop down we can sort one if you require.

See you soon,

cheers

Only pussies use additives at this level of tune to bring the figures up.

Just leave it Immy and drive it..... you've already said that you're happy with the car and that another 20bhp aint gonna make any difference.

Quick question as your a DD user........

What difference in spool would a run made in 4th against a run made in 5th mean..... 400-500rpm?

Hey Shaun, sorry I didn't answer your previous question. I always run 6 gear cars in 5th and 5 gear cars in 4th as they are the closest gears to 1:1 ratio with the engine. I'm not sure on the exact different in spool but I wouldn't expect it to be much more than 200rpm really. As it happens Immy's 5th gear had almost an identical ratio to the 4th in another customer's car I did after.

Hope that helps,

Graham

Hi Graham,
It should not make ANY difference on a Dyno Dynamics RR (apart from the spool), as 4th gear is even recommended by DD themselves on the 6 speeder.

The only thing it should effect is spool and based on "stuff" i've seen from DD RR graphs, it has certainly been more than 200rpm between 4th and 5th.

Have you got the boost graph perchance?

That's correct.

Kev run's the cars in 3rd (some 6sp's) to cut down on stress, which makes sense to me. The only downside is that it appears the car has bad spool, but we all know that the figures need "shifting" to the left to adjust for a 4th gear run say.... so all is good.

It varies so tremendously based on gear ratios that I don't think it matters so much other than spool. I know the only other issue there may be with running them in 3rd and mapping in that gear in that you might not get your boost control parameters correct. I try and do it in a sensibly high gear and then when mapped try it in top gear to make sure the boost doesn't over-shoot the target.

The other issue with running high powered cars in 3rd or 4th depending on box is that some make so much torque that they wheel spin and although strapping the cars down further helps to stop this it also skews the potential results with a higher friction.

Hi,

we dont run them in 5th as we dont want to torture the engines which is why we always sign a car off on the road where the loads are real etc.etc .

Based on that I cannot give you an exact answer but it wont be as much as 500 RPM,

Truth is though as I have always said its not all about dyno figures on bits of paper its how the car performs on the road and after speaking to Immy the cars owner, he says its stunning, does exactly what it says on the tin, and if he was to chase that illusive 20BHP it is there, somewhere, most likely due to intake temps, but as it is "stunning" are his words.

Well done to Graham the engine mapper for getting the result.

cheers
Kev
