08/09 Hatches, Stand up and show yourselves!!!
I dont want it really loud as it will be used as an every day car. At the moment we have a 2005 wrx with an afterburner back box and centre section and thats just nice, it doesnt drone to much long distance but it burbles lovely.
i have a magnaflow cat back system on mine PPP1, its perfect for commuting everyday and loud, pops, and crackles when you S# and floor it

Engine out Rob?? hmmm will keep me eyes glued to this thread

Rob, my lump is out and just being finished next week down at Enginetuner in Devon.
I had the misfortune of a broken piston etc etc.
Anyhow after some research I approached Alan Jeffrey for advice and decided on a full forged rebuild.
Wiseco pistons (apparently a slightly deeper skirt on piston is better for a road car)
K1 rods
Cosworth main bearings
ARP head stud kit
RCM oil pump (highly advised)
Cosworth sump baffle
Cosworth head gaskets
Also whilst in bits we decided to port and flow the heads for future reference... this will add a little more mid range ummph and help the breathing.
I understand the valves are a little smaller in the hatch heads, compared to some.
Everything got balanced etc ( their engine builder of 20+ years 'Andy Bell' is a perfectionist) - engine reduced to two halves and a load of bits... but now back together as a short block.
I'm velly happy I took it there, as it turns out they did a development car for 'cough cough - osworth' a couple of months back, and are expecting another car from Mr Litchfield next week to "work with" 'cough cough'.
So... I'm glad I chose the peeps who are making waves with the hatch 'development'.
If anything above is not 100% accurate, then please correct as 'you' see and need.
Cheers A

have been reading mixed reports on the cosworth sump baffles ??
some say there is a problem with them causing the engine to run lower oil pressures at lower engine rpm

Rang Tim at Scoobyparts to see if he could knock me up a WRXS front grill badge. Rang at 09.30 Friday, the proof image was with me by noon , and the badge arrived first class post Saturday morning. Now that's what I call an A1 service.
Cheers Tim

Hi Apostle,
Saw your engine when I dropped my car off at Alan's Friday

Would also highly recommend Enginetuner as he is exceptionally helpful during an often difficult and confusing time, trying to finalise aims/spec/budget into a suitable compromise.
When are you hoping to collect yours ?

If its the prob I read about, it was caused by incorrect fitting of the oil pick-up pipe and definitely nothing to do with the baffle plate.

Hello everyone.
First post here supporting the hatches! I'm Tom and have a Diesel Impreza. I absolutely love the car. Great handling, great fuel economy and certainly not slow (but not an STi!
)
Sorry for the lack of pictures, I will get up more when I can. I'm in awe of some of the cars on this thread - well done the modders!!
If anyone has an STi rear spoiler, I'd be very interested as I find the stock WRX style one a bit weeny.
Cheers all!
