08/09 Hatches, Stand up and show yourselves!!!
Looks like an Sti shell to me, wide arches etc. Sorry Arron, you may be right. Just looked at the first link and deffo no wides in that 1.
Is it just me or do the rear windscreen wings look stupid? (the big hoofing things)

So any updates from page 57/8 on has anyone fitted an HKS Camp2 or Blitz R-Vit engine monitoring system to their hatch yet ? Do they work on the Euro spec DVD screen ? CAn you switch between viewing engine stats and sat-nav ? (HKS don't know - suggest I buy one and try it ! - cheap R&D for them !)
Is the PPP exhaust for the STi the same as that fitted to the 330S ?
When I got the PPP fitted to the hatch STi I got the old back box and a middle pipe back - what's the middle pipe for / changed to?
Are these both changed on the 330S when it gets it's power upgrade?
Looks like still a resonator or something in the middle pipe on the 330S.
330S seems quieter than the STI with PPP hence wondering if only the back box was changed on the 330S.
Thanks

The 2nd hand 330s exhaust I had from Iain consisted of a decat pipe to replace the 2nd cat, and the prodrive rear box. The centre resonator pipe is the same. (Not sure about the 1st CAT in the down pipe... whether it's a fast flow jobbie or not)

Something chipped my windscreen last week and when I cam e to wash the car at the weekend found it had bounced off my bonnet first. There is no dent but a chip the size of a new 5p coin. I can't see any bare metal just the grey undercoat, the car is grey metalic. Had a quote from a local repair shop to respary the area but advised not to do the whole bonnet but the area around it and probably over to the wing to make it all blend as they said if they did the bonnet it would stand out - is this true? They quoted me £200+VAT. Don't have an issue with the price as it seemed reasonable but have had bad paint jobs done in the past and I am just wondering what if it happens again how many coats of paint would I end up with as the car isn't a year old yet. Is it worth getting someone like Chips Away are they good can they colour match? Idea being temporary for now and as the car gets older with more chips then perhaps get a 'proper' job done later. Waiting for Chips Away to give me a quote.
Appreciate anyone's advice either way or maybe just leave it until it bugs me to death? The paint is thinner than the Emperor's New Clothes!

As for future paint chips, you'll probably find the re-spray paint is of better quality and hence more resistant to stone chips.
Mr Scooby L, slightly confused, are you suggesting I have the respray or leave it for a later day and do a bigger area? Thanks
To re-spray the whole bonnet (plus feather it out over the wings)
The new paint will be of a higher quality than the OEM paint (Subaru paint is terrible and chips easily) so will look better, resist chips and swirls better... money well spent.

In conclusion are you suggesting I get Chips Away for now and do a big job later rather than a smaller area of the bonnet resprayed?
I am selling my complete Kenwood audio and sat nav upgrade which I had professionally removed from my 09 STi. This is the very respected double DIN DNX-7200, and comprises of the following:
Kenwood DNX-7200 DVD/CD/USB/SAT NAV head unit - immaculate screen as I have had a screen protector fitted since new (cost £725.00)
Kenwood BT-200 Bluetooth Module - this is the latest module, so supports most new phones (cost £99.00)
Kenwood GTM-10 Traffic Module - picks up live traffic information which can be used to reroute around traffic (cost £99.00)
Wiring adapter and steering wheel control module for 08+ - difficult to source (cost £45.00)
Genuine JDM Subaru Audio Panel - this finishes off the install nicely, as the original cutout is larger than double DIN (supplied by Litchfields - £86.00)
As this is the complete install for the hatch, I thought I would offer it on this thread first. Boxes, instructions and pass code included. I am looking for £600.00 + P&P, or collection from Bromley, Kent welcome. This is great set-up, and even improves the standard sound quality. Any questions please ask.

This is correct - 2nd cat and backbox replacement. All the rest is untouched - this is the same as an STI with PPP so should sound the same!
Hehehe, I must not be trying hard enough! Although 3k on the clock not thrashed it too much yet, the STi had the PPP after around 10k so did get booted!

Both my Hatches have suffered chips on the front of the bonnet and in front of rear wheels... don't leave it as the grey primer may be porous to water - and it may start rusting.
The paint is clear lacquer over base colour if I recall, so not the easiest job to get the shade / colour right especially if metallic colour although the lacquer "oversprsay" will help blend it in.
But likely to be a large patch that looks different to the rest of the large panel even if only 'cos it's shiny!
Best bet is the whole panel, and maybe even the adjacent panels to help with consistency?
I have used Chips Away a couple of times on previous cars.
They have a massive computerised database and mix the paint up there and then, and it really does match well.
They "fill" the chip with this paint with an air brush then smooth the excess off around the chip and it looks pretty resonable.
But for a 5p size chip it may be a bit large to do this way?
Hope that helps. Probably have Chips Away have a go, then do a bigger job if not happy?
Neil
Thanks very useful suggestion in your original post and agree they are chipping badly having only done about 4500 miles in it. I have cancelled the spray job and have chased chips away all day with no luck.
Any fellow hatch Owners Interested in some genuine subaru accesories from the brochure Got some great deals to be had for a limited time. email me for details Rob.ostle@btopenworld.com
Hi Lads,
I have a 2008 sti hatch in silver, the car has only done 10250 miles and you would think the car has just been for a run in Afghanistan!!
The stone chips in the bonnet, back doors are shocking!!
The car is waiting on a Subaru paint specialist!! to cheak the paint depths!!
when a small stone hits the car it is taking off the paint right to the metal!!
They are all around 1pence bits in size!!
I have had mud flaps on the car from new! So took the car to Falkirk Subaru who are really good by the way!
they took pics I was asked to tkae the car to their painter and he came back with a price of £16/1800 for the job?
So now Subaru want to see the car and take paint depths!!
I will however have the car into two body shops first before they subarus paint man comes along and gives me his take onit....
I will keep you all posted of the out come!
