Cheers Ian, and yes all passed, only comment was front pads are low which I knew anyway, and that just gives me an excuse to get some decent pads!

The Iron-X is from polished bliss.

You spray it on and leave for 5 minutes to do its thing then wash it off then clay the car, it virtually does away with the use of a claybay. The iron-x wont remove tar deposits thats only thing I've found that wont come off

Excellent, also with the prices at the moment not sure I'd be wasting my fuel!!

Back on topic, Autoglym tar remover is very good.

Mark, as for the stickers, Sunstrip looks good, Prodrive ones are nice but not sure on location and with the others you have.

OK, my car being an 08 it has the smaller clear stone chip protectors on the rear doors, that combined with a 35 offset rim and my rear doors are starting (very slightly) to see a little road rash, have just spoken with Subaru and they want £70 for a pair of the larger ones, and that is just for the doors and litte arch bit and leaving out the sill section!!!

I guess they are made out of the 3M stuff and must be available elsewhere for a lot less but so far cannot find them, anyone have any suggestions?

Cheers

having exactly the same problem on my08 sti hatch buddy, the paint is splatted with chips around the rear arch,i am thinking of buying some m3 clear film and nipping down to my local subaru dealer and asking them if i can stencil around a later model with the larger protective film panels(11 saloon etc)

should save around £65 of the dealer price

also,i was speaking to a guy who bought a cosworth sti a few weeks back and he had sent his car back to the dealer to have his rear arch's sprayed under warranty claimed a design flaw!

Ditto re 08 except its the front of the bonnet, front bumper that look pebble dashed
My arches seem OK. I do have std offset rims and flaps. I reckon if you have offset that " fills" the arches it will make the rear arch problem even worse.
Marcus & Arron - do you have std offset ?

no idea on the standard offset mate,i would think around et45-50

i have the 330s wheels on mine which are 8.5" wide with 245 tyres, they fill out the arch's,but as with the chipped rear archs, come at a cost to the paint

my car is going to the bodyshop in a couple of weeks for a frontend respray(bonnet front edge/wing tops/bumper etc)as i think the previous owner liked to tailgate grit wagons !

Stock offsets:

17 x 8.0 standard STi hatch wheel - ET53
18 x 8.5 standard 330S wheel - ET55
18 x 8.5 BBS wheel - ET55
18 x 8.5 GT1 wheel - ET53
19 x 8.5 GT2 wheel - ET50

IIRC, Arron's Speedlines are ET35.

Marcus, that's a cracking idea ref the stencil, and I know just the 09 330s that can help me out! Thanks for thinking up that one!

And yep Neil is right, my Speedlines are ET 35, the RA's stop most of the damage but the smaller bits must be getting thrown up from the fronts and being drawn into the rear doors.

Happy that's sorted though for a few quid!

Having bought a set of standard STi 17" rims to put winter tyres on I am amazed at the weight of each rim, feel like they are made of lead rather than a lightweight alloy!

My car is currently sat on std Sti alloys but I want a set of 18" strong but light weight rims, I know some after market rims are light but seem to bend fairly easily. I would prefer to spend more to get stronger rims.

Prodrive still have GC-010E available in 8.5" x 18 ET50, however think I need an ET50 for the hatch?

Compared to my old Prodrive wheels these are really light. and as for being a common colour I'll take your word for that since they are the only set in this colour Matt Anthracite
