Your hatch spec sounds good. How loud is your Cobra exhaust and does it pass the MOT OK? Mine came with a Milltek exhaust which I'm not too impressed with. It's got the right balance between quiet and burbly (I prefer sublty) but it struggles with emissions even with a sport cat.
This has a stellar MOT history, however, it has one fail last year and that was for emissions with the sports cat in...To be honest, when he started it up I knew I was going to buy it. The cobra sounds amazing, and it's not too intrusive. On a cold start it's definitely enough to **** the usual types off, though.
Replace it with one of these (probably the smallest panel - it's a long time since I changed mine) or similar
The festoon adaptor fits all - even the 24/25mm one. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/12V-White...-/323848282708
This looks more like the one I fitted but did away with the connector to save on space
As I've said, 2 of these to make my 08 centre light bright. I then got carried away and have fitted one in the front between the map lights. I picked up the electrical supply in the o/s A pillar and fitted a 3 position switch to select off/auto/on.
Thinking about sports cats for the hatch H&S I guess is the obvious one are there any other suggestions?
ive the milltek one on my car - though cant tell you anything about emissions rating with GB MOT's as our MOT's in N.Ireland are not a problem with sport cats

Thanks Gambit, Im assuming that the rest of the system is also Milltek?
I have prodrive backbox mated to a H&S mid pipe so not sure that will fit?

yeah you are right in thinking that millteks only line up with milltek exhausts iirc.
mine is mated to the cosworth system but this is only possible as the cosworth system used a small flex pipe to join downpipe to half system - so i was able to get a custom made flex joint to allow me to hook up to the milltek downpipe

I have several Cosworth front with Cat and middle sections as above if anyone interested

you'll probably be stuck with the downpipes for quite a while as they dont fit standard turbo fitments - custom made specifically for cosworth turbo which has a slight twist in its fitment in engine bay
Yeah ill be cutting the leveller bracket of my arms and welding on to the new arms
I have been thinking of doing the same but was advised against tig welding on aluminium, would it weaken the arms?
Looking forward to seeing your plans (y)
Got the car back from SMD yesterday. Major service including belts & tensioners etc. New MeisterR suspension as well as Prodrive GT1s and new PS4s...May look at getting some spacers.

Pricing up a full repaint, too.
Very nice car but I'd personally raise the coilovers unless you travel on super smooth flat roads.
Suspension needs travel in order to work especially on our typical UK B roads.

It's only lowered about 15mm but I agree it does look quite low. Driven a good 100 miles on it on some fairly questionable b roads and it's not crashy at all. Pretty impressed. Dampening is set to half way point.
I am going to be installing the positive traction sub frame mount bushing inserts in my 09 STI hatch.
Can anyone provide the torque setting for the long 12mm flange bolts that go through the bushings and sub frame. Also the torque setting for the 10mm bolts that hold the front end of the sub frame support arm.

Terzo have you managed to get those bolts undone? Mine were / are welded tight and I have mashed one so be careful.

Thanks Rusti. Yes I managed to get all the bolts undone without issue. I actually read that you had had issues so wanted to check that all the bolts would loosen off before I ordered the inserts. I did need to use a 24" breaker bar for the larger bolts and also ensured I used a six point socket to avoid stripping corners off the bolt.
Rusti, Have you worked out how your going to remove the seized bolt. If you drill it for an easy out then grind the bolt head off I think it will come out easily. It is only because the bolt is in tension that it is so tight. What was the condition of the bolts you managed to get out. I would guess that they were in pretty good condition apart from the bolt heads. Hope I'm not teaching you to suck eggs. Lol
