Re VDC - in simple terms :
Not illuminated on dashboard - VDC & traction control on
Amber - press VDC button once disengages VDC but keeps traction control
Green - press VDC once and keep pressed for approx 5 secs - VCD & Traction Control disengaged
Do not keep button pressed for more than 10 seconds or VDC/traction is activated and you cannot turn them off until you switch the ignition on/off.
Also, in manual/diff lock mode you need to disengage both VDC and T/C to get full benefit.

I am now coming up on the end of year two of hatch ownership, and my tyres are on their way out. I have a trip planned to the lake district (wife's anniversary present to me).
Can anyone recommend replacement tyres for the 17" wheels, or should I just stick with the same ones that it came with? I really likes the Goodyear Eagle F1's I have on my WRX, just don't know how they will sit on the Sti?
Also I am about to have slowboy racing install front and rear ARB's (Whiteline), ALK (Whiteline). Is it worth getting the drop links done at the same time?

Just saw a fella a few posts back got some recarros from Santa. I have been trying to negotiate for these with the missus for a year now. Has anyone else swapped the standard seats out of their hatch?

Hatch accessories!
The 330S with the SatNav head unit - bluetooth mic was £163.59 plus fitting and vat! And just plugs in the back to turn on the blue tooth feature!!
The STi with std head unit was dearer I think, as it had to have the blue tooth kit too?
V
PS where would I find the OBDII socket on the 330S ?
And where would I connect an IPod Touch to the gead for use as aux??
Ohh yeah, how to allow aux / screen use when moving for the Rev monitoring s/ware off the I touch??
Cheers!

not sure how many of you have seen this but...
Subaru Impreza WRX STI R205 | Car News | Performance cars | evo
japanese link: STI - R205
Based around the 2009 WRX STI Spec-C and developed during the Nurburgring 24 hour endurance race, there are several upgrades over the normal STI that set the R205 apart.
The main area STI has tweaked is the suspension. Specially tuned dampers and coil springs are employed, and work with a flexible front strut bar and lower arm stiffener to keep the specially designed Bridgestone RE070 rubber (wrapped around cast 18” wheels) firmly on the ground. Behind the lightweight wheels sit Brembo brakes - six-pot at the front and four-pot at the rear.
Power is 316bhp, and comes from the classic 2-litre boxer four-cylinder, with a new ball bearing turbo to aid spool time. The exhaust is also new, creating less backpressure and making use of a revised sports muffler. An ECU tweak is the final piece in the power puzzle.
Distinguishing the R205 from lesser cars in Subaru’s arsenal isn’t easy. There’s an STI bodykit (which apparently improves aerodynamic performance), an R205 grille at the front and a small badge on the back. Interior tweaks are a couple of R205 sill plates and a serial number plate. It’s safe to say Subaru are intending on letting the performance do the talking.
i'M LIKE THIS
Only 400 of these cars will be made and all will be sold in Japan, so the only way to get your hands on one is to stick it on a boat and import it. The cost in Japan will be 4,510,000 Yen (£30,395), which is a smidge more expensive than the cheapest 296bhp Mitsubishi Evo X available over here, and over a grand less than the Impreza STI 330S. That makes the R205 seem decent value for money.

Ok, after reading about Arrons engine failure I think I might do a mid year oil change, I assume a std oil filter from Revoution at £16.99 is ok rather than an STI oneat £30, however what Oil does anyone recommend and where is best to buy, IIRC there was somewhere on the net that was quite resonable but forget their name.

Hi guys, thought i would post up a few pics of my hatch too, right now the car is sitting in a nice central heated garage Don't want to get the poor girl cold .
No mods or anything as yet but reading this topic make's it hard not too.
Exhaust is a must though as the standard is way too quiet

Snow fun (but not)
Things were going so well until...subaru ownership is like a rollercoaster
Last week I had some car park fun
Then I was brought back to down to earth. Went to Moel Fammau (medium sized hill in North Wales with great views of the Dee estuary) but forgot that AWD does not mean summer tyres are great for ice. The approach road to the top car park is very steep at the top, and yes you guessed it I had to stop moving because a useless old git wouldn't move out of the way despite me attracting his attention in a friendly kind of way (I didn't swear until later).
So of course when I tried to move off no amount of diff technology would get me going up the hill again. So I skillfully executed a 75m backwards slide / rollback from rest down the approach road until a welcoming drift at the road side gently brought us to a cushioned stop. Kids loved it but they didn't stay to help dig the snow out from under the car
So I got some winter tyres fitted on Friday & went out again this weekend. The difference in traction is sublime (toyo snowprox vs. Goodyear F1a, so yes I know it should be).
This time we went to Loggerheads (same area of North Wales, different pastime - sledging).
Much fun was had by all - apart from dodging the idiot local who was using a bonnet from a corsa as a sledge / ankle slicer
Anyhow - the point of the post?
I got back to the car park to find that some ****** had lobbed a huge ice ball onto the roof....here's the damage
It would be both a dint and paint chip back to the metal wouldn't it. and just in the most inconvenient place on the roof edge panel
Anyone got any ideas of how to sort this? I'm no car expert so don't know where to start. Local dentman & paintshop? Dealer? Insurance claim? Any help would be much appreciated. I know it's not exactly ring land failure but it's a pain in the **** to me...
