I didn't opt for any clear coat as apparently it's not required to protect powdercoat.

Really happy with the result, the finish isn't quite 100% perfect but its still a very good job for the money.

I got them done from a place 10 minutes drive from Leeds Bradford airport.

The most expensive finish they do is a metallic looking anthracite with clear coat which works out at around £40 a rim.

I really like the look, almost stealthy . I've got a gold set with winter tyres on waiting for the white stuff.
my wifes 17's on her focus cost £55 a corner to be fully properly powerder coated.. (stripped down.. re finished and had tyres removed and re balanced).
had them done by the guys in Nottm... highly recommend them

Those guys were my next choice as I'm down in Nottingham usually once a week with work.

£17 a rim is a bargain although they only take rims on their own, no tyres.

I got my winter tyres just as we got some snow a few months ago, that's what made me realise I miss the comfort of 17s. Maybe it's because the Yorkshire roads are particularly poorly kept, either way I've now got 3 sets of tyres and rims for this car so need to shift the 18s

The Experian offices just outside the city centre. Always take a company car though!

Do you paint them with the tyres on?

Anyway if I can find somewhere to powder coat them for under £100 (which looks possible) then I'll do that. My summer wheels are a bit corroded so I might attempt a DIY repair and wet paint over the winter.

Great write up, I was just scared to do them without tyres as I've seen the way those tyre machines grab the wheels but I guess you can just ask them to be extra careful. But I'm still in 2 minds whether to spray myself or get powder coated. Thing is I may save £100 - £150 (and really enjoying doing it) but on the downside it will take *a lot* of my time and the finish won't be as tough against stones etc... Hmmmmm.

Can anyone advise on a new set of spark plugs for my sti hatch?

The heat ranges and model numbers are confusing. I think I need to stay standard heat range as although I'm modified I've had no issues on standard plugs.

Thanks

NGK: SILFR6A

Maintenance schedule only changes them every 7 years or 66K miles

Thanks. Is it a pointless exercise changing them at 5 years and 24k miles?

Just had mine in at chevron stafford today for a 5 year service, 26k miles, they advised me my plugs didn't look to healthy, so i got them changed, got a higher heat rating set too, wasn't going to mess about for the cost.

That's a meth map I take it? Any Vpower/Tesco99 results?

I bet she is responsive with the higher compression! I'm on 8.7:1 so god knows how yours feels - good work mate :-)

That's just a vpower map. No methanol in sight

Off boost torque is unreal. Virtually minimal lag up to say 2700 then off she goes.

Hard to believe but it's fairly quiet once up to operating temp, Andy adjusted the knock sensor sensitivity a touch across the range but he did comment that they were miles better than allot of the forged pistons, The car has endless pull with it now its unreal
