The SC46 on my hatch is simply breath taking, you wont be disappointed.
Nobody fancy daring to stick a SC46 on a standard bottom end? If your going to go fully forged eventually anyway, may as well break it first as its going to cost the same unless your extremely unlucky. Low boost and plenty of methanol should keep det chances at a minimum.
If I was gonna start again, id of waited till I broke the standard bottom end first.
The Americans seem to forge their engines last rather than before. Plenty over there with 500bhp+ on standard bottom end. Dunno how long they are lasting though lol

As I said, Scoobyclinic talked me out of it on std bottom end!

Am seeing what the std motor does / lasts at 380 on vpower and 420 on meths ...!
Avoiding the red line seems to be the safe option!

depends on how you drive it.

red line makes no **** of difference unfortunately, as the throttle butterfly starts to close to richen the mixture up to stop abnormal combustion occurring, there's a glitch on the ecu at around 5,000rpm from what I've heard which causes one of the issue's.

rob, how much does your place charge for a 2nd year service on the STI hatch?

been quoted £300 and £250 from 2 local Subaru dealers

on another note, got to work this morning and notice the n/s rear tyre is flat!!!
had puncture repaired but been told the vredatein side walls inside are buggered!!!

fooking great nothing wrong with tyre tread, like new!!!

Been quoted £121 + VAT for new one

a word of warning - i fitted the spare wheel on but the STI nuts dont actually hold it on, they wont go fully on to hold the wheel in place due to the narrow space save rim - i woulda been ****ed if i was on side of the road!!!

so word of warning - carry 5 standard ones around with you!!!!!

Really stupid question I know but it happened to me once trying to change the wheel in a rush and when I had finished scratching my head realised I had put the wheel on the wrong way around as the metal pushed out one side to shorten the threads of the bolts so obviously went in the other side lengthening the bolts.

So let me get this right. If you have a puncture the spare wheel is no use as the stock STi wheel nuts aren't deep enough to allow the space saver to be tightened down fully? And you would need open ended nuts which don't come with the car? How ridiculous is that!!!

Not had a puncture in the hatch (touch wood!) so this is news to me.

Neil.

I was gonna ask about servicing costs as seriously tempted to pick up a 320R hatch early next year (if I have enough money left after getting married lol). £250 sounds good as I just paid that to service my Civic Type R.

Does anyone here go mountain biking and if so a) can you fit a bike in the STi hatch with the rear seats down b) if you use a bike carrier what make/model do you use?

Cheers
Simon

Hi mate
Yes I carry my mtb in the hatch with the rear seats down, just whip off the front q/r wheel and it goes in the boot no problem, but I have also fitted a removable tow bar made by whitter it cost £85 off eBay and took about 90 minutes to install including the wiring loom for the tow light board,I mount a Thule 3bike carrier to the tow bar and it's superb

I had a massive puncture in my 330s a couple of years ago and the spare fitted then. Isn't there a difference between front and back? Aren't you suppose to stupidly move one of the good wheels to the 'big' calipers and stick the mini spare on a 'small' caliper?

Pretty sure you are suppose to swap the good wheels as above so the mini goes over the smaller calipers as above but the whole thing is a little daft.

I'm sure the 330s spare was the same as yours and that was on 18's as standard I think you just have to obey the spedd limit for the spare skinny.

You would have been OK with the spare, the rolling radius will be pretty much the same as the 18/40.

Got mine from a seller on eBay, or go direct or Revolution sell them, huge improvement over the standard crap fitted.

Yeh it looks much better with the Zun sport grill. Might go for a carbon lip to finish it off.
