I was reading a thread somewhere yesterday about 'sticking' SF, the problem was ppl were'nt putting enough in the bottle before topping up with water.

Try a bit more in next time.. I'll do the same.

Bit Evo-esque at the rear and Id probably still pick a hatch due to practicality but I do like the new saloon.

I personally like the new saloon quite allot but the boot isnt the best really and also there is the pricetag of £33,495 which is putting folk off. We've got two sat at work ready to go but no buyers, where as the hatch when it came out folk were pre-ordering them months in advance

Mine works on a ratio of, 1" of concentrate in the 1 litre snowfoam bottle then top up with warm water until full

Thats the one at Cross Roads garage, it was the car that started it all off for me back at the start of December
The guy there (the M.D.) never ramg me back either after seeing that car on the saturday.. he said he'd be in touch the following week! oh well, I bought a 330s else where. lol
Paulbu has also rang about that car and I think he said there's no warranty with it because it's been mapped. He'd be able to tell you more

GT2 alloys for me, maybe Phil will be kind enough to post a really good close side on picture of his car

Failing that some OZ 19'' alloys as the arches can easily take the 'bigger' wheel

That's a cracking price for an STi. Seems like not many people (including me) don't like it as much in red. Plus I have a wedding to pay for so hopefully dealers are offloading MY11 hatches for similar prices this time next year

Depends how low you are going to run your suspension + rim width.
I believe Iain L is using some 9" on his new development car.

With std rims and o/s I could probably go out another 15mm or so before risking rubbing on the lip on the rears. If the rear arches were rolled there is possibly another 10-15mm. So I reckon between 40 (no risk of rubbing) and 25 o/s (rolled arches) could be the range.

Has anyone rolled their rear arches ?

Mark, how did you find you Vredestein's over the the winter this year in the rain and snow, need some tyres soon and these are coming in at £40 less a corner than pretty much everything else, on back order but should not be too long before back in stock.

Hos is the wear, grip wet/dry etc.

Always brought well known tyre brands in the past, Yoko's, Goodyear etc but these seem to get such good reviews I should not pass them over.

Cheers

I run et35's, 8.5, 18", with prodrive springs and they very slightly rub (more like brush) on the liners at the front when on 75% lock and reversing (not noticed it going forward). They clear the arches fine though.

Need to get one of those snow foam lances, they look impressive. When I have given it a clean this weekend i'lll stick some photos up of the wheels and where they brush the liners.

Nice one on the white 330s S-K although you should be ashamed of that mpg

its does look nice but I really think Subaru are just loading a gun to shoot themselves

sales have severely dropped since the launch of the hatch then they bring out the saloon and facelift hatch , both of which have a 5-6k increase from the STI pre face lift!!!

good marketing

I had considered the saloon but the hatch offers a massive boot with the seats down, what I have struggled with in the Hawkeye and RB5 as i need to fit in 2 club marquess and a tonne of other stuff for the car shows!!!

I'm sticking with the hatch for now, its the best I've own by far

I am interested in the handling of the MY11 hatch with the spec c suspension

ye kinda went into buying em blind after finding I could buy a full set for half to cost of the pirelli corsa's but they have been phenomenal in snow, rain, dry and damp conditions, i have total confidence in them for grip which is staggering considering their cost to other tyres that perform the same.

not quite sure how long I have had them now but they seem to be great at wear too, considering I've dont about 8k miles on them now (fitted them just after the engine was rebuilt)

I had these on old last MY05 STI
I found them to be fantastic tyres, outstanding grip wet & dry
Never got the change to see what they were like in snow.

They seems to be in very short supply though when I wanted a set.

Thanks Mark, just what I wanted to hear, I shall be fitting a set as soon as they are back in stock, all the reviews I read pretty much rate them higher than all the branded alternatives.

And as for the practicality of the hatch, drove to work today (London) to collect some new dining chairs, was going to get 3 today and the other 3 Saturday, ended up getting all 6 in with room for another 2 at a push, just acnnot fault it for a daily driver!!

Default Diff oil?

Any recommendations on rear diff oil? Having to replace a drive shaft seal next week and thought I'd be as well changing the oil at the same time.

Spec is GL5 75W90. Any brands better than others?

TIA, Neil

Tis good at carrying stuff.
I took an old built-in fridge to the dump last week in my hatch.

I found that when going on holidays that the old 05 STI bearly allowed two luggage cases in the boot.

ArronB,
have you looked at Avons?
get good write ups and they put them on RollsRoyces i could get 245/35/19's at £111 a corner + fitting at www.Camskill.co.uk

StrikE,
will try and get some side view wheel pix up in the day light, bit dark now. was looking at how much room I have to play with at the top of the tyre to the arch... = .... not a lot! lol

Question:
anyone noticed that when you stad near the car the interior light comes on (with the keyless key in my pocket)

as I've not got a sat/nav radio instruction book yet, can anyone tell me on the usersetting for DAY/NIGHT/Auto mode (for the screen)
I've set it to auto, but at night it still seems to be dead bright. (I'm in my garage trying everything) in Auto mode does that only work when driving with the lights on?

If I turn down the brightness of the dash board lights (via the scroll wheel o the dash board) it goes to night screen mode though.

Can anyone shed some light on it for me?

last thing, how do I do head light washer function? i can't understand the hand book on how to do it

Can't help with the 330 specific stuff but for the headlight washers, hold the windscreen washers on for more than a second or so with the headlights on and the headlight washers activate.

Phil yes the inertia lights come on within the vicinity of the passenger & driver door and tailgate when it's dark and with the key is in your pocket, without touching a thing!
Bonus

I noticed the dimmer dial beside the headlight switch dims the sat nav also, if the switch is fully in one direction the sat nav screen stays lit fully at night so just dial it back a touch.

Headlight washer as mentioned work with the light's on full when you press the wash button, do not work with lights off tho.

Phil a couple of good pics would be appreciated thanks.

hope that helps.

I've used Millers 75w90 nano in the diff and box. The box feels smoother on the gear changes, so can only assume it does what it says on the tin and reduces friction but it's not shown anything on the mpg.

Today's dumb question

Changing the oil, I see there are pipes from the sandwich plate above the oil filter. Is there an oil cooler or modine fitted as std ?
If so where is it ?

And is it thermostatically controlled (in the sandwich plate) ?

I think the sandwich plate is the oil cooler, pipes are water feeds from cooling system for heating when oil is cold and cooling once warm.

Cheers Paul. That makes sense.

Looking to fit an oil cooler. Wonder if there is much space behind the fog light. If so, I could remove fogs, fit meshed blanking plates.....

Stan,
Looking at your spec why don't you put it where the TMIC sat, saves messing about with the bumper. I think if you take off the foglight cover you'll have to cut the bumper to get room to fit it.
