Talking

After having had the hatch now for a couple of months, every time I drive it I get a grin from ear to ear, although the 19.4mpg on the dash is somewhat concerning

The more I drive it, the lower the mpg it is going Sometimes I even go out into the garage to look at it, sad eh Have to say it is easily the best scooby I have had.

Hopefully getting a few upgrades before xmas, PPP, prodrive springs and a quickshift, if the dealers pull their fingers out. Some tints, selective whiteline stuff and some driver training for next year me thinks.

Pic of mine (dark grey) and my bro's (red - have to say, red is sweet looking in the flesh).

.

I have been waiting to do the same but no snow. I do drive with the vsd with it showing as green on the dash. Got fed up with it cutting the power. Is there any way to lock it in that mode?

bet you froze ya nads off doing that mate. Good job well done though!

Mine looks like Ive washed it in salt. I'll just wait for the polish blokes to get their car wash going, then they can freeze their nads off washing it.

As this is the thread of knowledge for the hatch, I thought I would post in here.

I am looking at getting a Kenwood head unit, specifically the DDX8026BT as I dont need/want navigation. Anyone have any ideas what I have to buy to get it to fit in the dash (do I need a new surround). Also, anyone know if there is in an integration kit so that the controls on the wheel work with it.

If anyone has experience of a better head unit for the same sort of cash lemmie know

Edit: Or the IVA-W520R + BT module from Alpine.... hmmm

cheers !

To fit the screen you either need the JDM AV surround which replaces the UK spec one (can get these from japanparts.com) or you can get an adaptor which fills the space between the DIN unit and the UK surround. Like this one Double DIN Facia.

Personally i'd get a JDM surround for a cleaner look, i managed to get a used one...

You also need a stalk/iso adaptor, Connects2 CTSSU001. I got mine from here Steering Control Adaptor obviously then add the Kenwood patch lead.

Easy

nice unit, the steering wheel controls you need are here: http://www.kenwood-electronics.co.uk/tech/swa/subaru/ but you really dont need them, for the cost involved, trust me!!!!

as for the fitting, its pretty easy, my kenwood 7029 unit came with a plastic blank surround that I just trimmed around and fit to the area in the dash!!! it clipped onto the face of the unit, then when the dash fascia is back in place you cant see the edges

the mounting brackets for the original unit just unscrew , 2 either side and you just fit to the kenwood, job done.

I could do with it being lower for the looks but practicality and the uncountable amount of humps in Essex wont allow it.

That's the one i have, its is different as the opening is the same size as the double DIN stereos (i.e smaller than UK).... so like the pic i posted i have no large gap around the stereo where you have that black plastic thingy.

i've always stuck with kenwood, never liked alpine designs plus i have saved money by using add on components from one kenny to another (i.e. bluetooth and ipod modules)

hey guys since this cold weather started my car makes a bang noise when reversing off the drive and I turn the steering wheel. Its sounds like its coming from under the car, could it be something to do with the diff? should i take it to the dealer to have a look or is this normal?

Thanks

Luke

P.S I dont suppose anyone has any spare prodrive centre caps they would be interested in selling?

Alpine for me, If you like your audio then go for the decent kit, I've had kenwood in the past and to be honest alpine blows them away

Was my alternate choice and the other half's favourite, I really wanted the 4wd though. Also didn't like interior styling, preferred the 330s more, and thus far can say I'm very happy, it has been great in the snow, although the real test will come on the drive up to see the in-laws in Edinburgh at christmas!
