As for safety, it's the best solution (fitting different ET alloys aside). You retain the rim so the alloy bears on the spacer 100% and not the studs (like cheaper spacers do)

The group buy guy has also asked for my current stud lengths so he can make sure the replacement ones fit perfectly.

I've gone a bit mad this month..must be the barmy weather.... I fitted the new motor meter dials... did not like them (were cheap (£35 each) and sounded cheap...along with abnormal readings) so have just ordered some Defi racers in amber... £300 from Japan

Got the 20mm spacers coming in a week or 2..another £200odd

Also just ordered a cool action II £220

Need to slow down on the spending but itching to get the 25mm drop and fast road geo done by Aug

Oh and some Tarrox cross drilled discs and pads going on in Sept.

 

i fitted 15mm spacers to the wifes convertible to get the Focus RS rims to fit

these fitted with studs to the hub and studs to the wheels

 

That's the ones Mark..except 20mm not 15mm..

CDF in Maidstone IIRC, possible group buy and upto 30% of list if a few of us have some, current group buy has finished so will have to do another.

Ok, just spoken with Chris at CDF (01634 817255) and he has quoted me £160 for a set with all bolts etc, 2 sets or more and he will drop to £150 delivered.

That will get you from between 25mm and 40mm.

I've been told you need to get to ET +30 or less before arch rolling/stretching is involved...(18", 245/40)

For example, The Advan RS 18"x9" alloys are +25 and do require a slight roll... but look If I was keeping mine another 3 or 4 years they'd be on in a flash...

 

So just to be clear. I have the 18 inch BBS wheels, standard tyres and Prodrive springs. What are the maximum spacers that can be fitted without giving any rubbing issues ?

20mm spacers "should" be OK. IIRC the BBS are ET55 so adding 20mm spacers gives equivalent to ET35.

I am in then for a set of 20mm (Group buy).

 

Probably, lets get all the questions out of the way and then start a list.

 

I think they are 25mm min I'm afraid to cover the length of the original stud.

BBS have an offset of 55 as do my 330s rims, which would put us in the possible 'arch issue area' hopefully the all knowing Rigged will be along shortly to explain what we can get away with.

If you guys plan on using BBS w/o modification you need 20mm spacers which makes the stock wheels to +35.....but if you guys can only get the 25mm spacers you'd have to roll the rear fender, no modification to the front at all......but you have to remember if you dont mind the tire will be slightly rubbing the front liner and that would be the only issue.....

all the guys that are running advans RG's 18x9 +29 are all using stock tires and have to roll the rear fenders.....

i know majority of you dont want to do any mods to the fender so i'd stick w/ 20mm spacer......hope that helps......

 

How is this affected if the car is dropped 20 - 30 mm with lowering springs, does that cause rubbing the arch with smaller spacers?


Actually a mate just bought some of these 20mm hub centric spacers for his classic and was well impressed with the quality, £120 delivered, not sure who off - I'll ask him!


OK, he got them off a CADS member who hadn't used them, had been £200 new, so may have been CDF's ...



There are several on ebay some same style / design at around £125, some similar but with new longer studs for the OEM hubs at around same price.

 

20-30mm drop wont affect it at all....but if you do want to go lower then that get coilovers being that coils on coilovers tends to be stiffer then springs......and also remember when you lower the car there will be negative camber from just lowering the car which is a plus side for the more aggressive offset to help tuck the wheel more inwards under the fender....

I have PD springs and a fair bit of camber so I may drop down to CDF and try out a set of 25mm in a week or so and see what the result is, will report back.

Only issue with the rears is they seem to catch more easily than the fronts, from earlier posts?

 

As far as I'm aware I've ordered 20mm spacers from CDF not 25mm, does this mean they will not fit?

Just spoken to Chris... he's still supplying me 20mm (done, coming early next week )) but recommends a minimum of 25mm, as he's concerned about the spacer integrity at the stud locations (where they have been countersunk by 7mm)

 

Been having a look at the Ichiba website (very popular spacers in the US) and it would seem that you will only have problems with original stud length if using 15mm spacers, 20mm and above = no problems.
