Well SSO was a wash out, I did not bother running the drag car as it looked too dangerous for big power cars IMO. Still Paul had a go in the Type R and ran 13.7. He also did 2 handling runs but was not confident in the wet at all so left it at that.

I now plan to run at the POd 16/17th at the Best of the Rest event to try and get that 9 this season.

Been busy today changing the turbo on the Type R. Removed the 321T which was also sold today So eventually got the S206/215 in, what a pig of a turbo to get in but hey it is big

A few pics of the process -

321T and uppipe off

Harvey Smith uppipe for the new turbo

321T next to the new S206

How's that going to go in there !

And a couple of hours later

Made a support bracket as could not find one in the stores

Modified intercooler pipework

Hard pipe inlet fitted, very tight under there

All done for now

Next steps are to fit the Simtek and get Duncan to map but at least it is drivable like this. I did not test it today as I had to go to Oxford to pick up another Scoob Just one to return to standard so have some very nice bits to sell

Now the S206 is on I could not use my APS 3.5" system so this is for sale. Very loud @ 100db @ 5500rpm ! £300 collected if anyone wants it

Turned the boost down and had a little test in it today, spool is 1 bar by high 3000's and full boost just over 4000 so not too bad. Really needs mapping now to make the most of the new tubby but that will have to wait a couple of weeks, or when Duncan can fit me in. Then we can really see if this is just too big for a 2.0

It must of been expensive for fuel taking both cars up for SSO? That s206 is slightly larger than your old turbo, its gonna be nice once mapped. It it just a 2ltr block in the type R ?

All set for Shakespeare tomorrow with the blue car, today I popped in the uprated rear drivershafts I got from Frank (over on 22b). Hopefully the snapping issues are now sorted. This will be the cars final outing to try for that 9 second run this year. Then the engine will be pulled in a few weeks to have it refreshed ready for next season, there will be some minor changes to try and achieve 700+ and then the car will go on more of a diet

Two new shafts next to a standard one

did you have to fit a different down pipe for the s206? and a 3 inch inlet under the inlet manifold will help a little i think

Yep have the engine tuner downpipe. Not happy with the inlet though as it's sucking shut so going to have manifold off and fit spacers to fit properly

yes some 10mm spacers will help the fit. if you have a play around, you can get a 3 inch inlet pipe in there as well, but it does take a fair bit of extra work.

the spacers from Mocom racing are very good, and if your services are good, you dont need to use gaskets
here is my set up

API do 10mm inlet manifold spacers with pressed-in rubber o-rings. Really neat.

Two of these work out to be all but the same price as regular spacers using two pairs (4) of gaskets...

How are those drive shafts stronger than the originals? What's 'special' about them? (they actually look less thick!!)....

Was being a little lazy last weekend due to time, should have just whipped the inlet off to fit it all properly.

Both Paul and I drover it today to evaluate the S215. 1 bar in 5th by 3600 rpm, however needs mapped before final judgement.

Exactly the same diameter, just materials used are stronger. Franks car in Holland has run these all season with no breakages, he is running very similar spec to myself.

Cool.

Do they have a more 'pure' steel e.g. tempered by repeatedly rapidly warming/cooling and or hammering to forge the metal?

Did they come off a Spec C or 22B or something? Amazing that they can 'handle' drag starts with c.600lb ft odd!

Custom made to R180 sizes. We will see how they handle it tomorrow

How much did they cost? Who did them?

Do you need an R180 rear diff, etc.? Is the R180 diff avaialble as a non-Type R/RA regular viscous coupling type as well?

They are not needed unless well over 500 imo.

Like I mentioned they came from Holland, not sure if any others will be made.
