Project P1 600bhp +

I will be getting my new EXE TC suspension fitted next Tuesday (4th Nov).
My current suspension is all genuine Prodrive and was replaced new 17,000 miles ago.
Has not had any track use and I believe it will fit on most Classic's.
I have read threads of guys that have replaced with P1 suspension and they have all said the difference was huge.
I am open to offers if anyone is interested??
Feel free to reply or PM

My original P1 Prodrive suspension was new 17,000 ago and I have always been really impressed with the handling. It really is a dream in all conditions, and to be honest much of me was thinking that the new EXE-TC suspension was going to be a waste of money.
The new EXE-TC is at least 3 times better, it's just superb. Tyre noise has increased a fair bit and the ride is amazingly smooth.
It has 40 manual settings to each corner by twisting a nut (real sexy click). Rear adjusters are between rear shelf & rear seat.
Currently running at 20.
Olly advised going up to 35 on track days.
Having a play with the settings at the weekend.

Fia17..... not sure yet. Possibly the GT35r
Dazdavies...... Matt has not explained to me the difference. He has re-designed
the previous twisted set up and he feels there will be improvements.
The new kits will be ready towards the end of Jan 09.
I will find out the difference and put the details in this thread.
Are you happy with yours Daz??... Marti who has a P1 has RCM's twisted set up and he said the power difference was huge.

I have not driven on Leda, Tein, Hotchkis, Eibach or such like but it would be interesting matching them to this new EXE-TC suspension.
The level of grip is astonishing.
On previous cars I have had Bilstein and AVO set ups and up until now the Prodrive P1 suspension was still the best I have driven on, but the EXE is in a different league.
As their advert states, it's been the suspension on the WRC winner in 2001, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006 & 2007 and I can now fully understand why.
You can really feel the shocks & springs controlling the loads rather than the usual feel of the tyres controlling them, yet the general ride is so smooth and that's the clever aspect of this set up.
To find it's limits is harder due to the fact of your bottle is going before the car does.
I have an open pit track day coming up and hopefully will find the limits.
We all have a bash in the lanes from time to time, but it gets to a stage when reality kicks in.

I had the Prodrive sring on my Newage STI and have done a few track days at Knockhill with and had no real issues.
But now i've got Tein Super Streets and i've noticed the ride is a good bit stiffer than before.I would say that on smooth roads it's great but on bumpy back roads should be avoided. On the current suspension is still haven't track day the car yet but will do so next year when the season starts again.
I've read alot of good things about the EXE-TC stuff but they were really too expensive for me.I would loved to try them and going by what you are saying is that they would be perfect as road car suspension.
Good luck with you engine build and it always longer than you think.

Delighted with mine although I've as yet to test it properly.
I ran a GT30R (0.82) at 1.4 bar and managed 450bhp on a standard 2.5 Bottom end. Then I purchased a Type R shell and decided to start again. This time its a no compromise build RCMS rods and pistons, linered closed deck 2.5 block and will be using a GT35R My real aim is 550 but i'd like to crack 600 even if its just the once.

I agree the Prodrive set up was very good.

Use RCM parts as much as you can. Not sure if you realise that all RCM's own parts are machined at an engineering outfit that also supply Mclaren & Williams with components.
When we guys go big on bhp it's the norm to wait for something to go bang, but I never get that feeling with Matts engine. It's very reassuring.
Mind you I still get that "something is going to break" feeling regarding the transmission at the moment.

ok.. only a friend of mine has just had Tein suspension fitted and his has 30 settings.
Regarding the strip, I will have launch control enabled and will be aiming for 10's.
I am not too fussed about drag racing as I intend to use it more for hill climbs and track, however it will be good to see the ET and TS is at the Pod.
Expecting traction issues!!
How did you find traction in 2nd & 3rd Fai ??
As for BHP, realistically we will be achieving about 580-590 bhp. There will be two options for increased power.
1. Having a twin map for race fuel, 10 Ltr tank etc.
2. RCM's NO2 kit.
Either will achieve high 600bhp & maybe 700+. Matts engine knocks out 725bhp on 125 oct race fuel, and on NO2 they are achieving 850bhp.
725 will be the limit on my inter cooler.

Traction.....its slippery 1st and 2nd but after that its away....maybe something to do with the weight of a fat newage and 250% stiffer shell...
I don't have any real issues on the strip. My gear change is not bad but just can't get the thing into 5th gear sometimes when you are on full steam.
but for next season i have light weight Rays wheels and slicks for track day and strip
But just to hope and pray i don't break anything tho.
My engine is out the now at Pennine for a freshen up or so to speak.
Bigger valves and bench flowed head is on it's way too...
Oh i can't wait.
My PB with the current setup was 11.08 @ 132mph
But my other times that day was 11.6 and 11.5 but above 130mph TS

Having the power to get in the 10's is one thing ,but to get the times on the strip will take a lot of practice .My biggest problem is traction and changing gear quicker ,i've got around 540bhp at the moment ,and the best i can get is 11.7 at 124mph i know that if i can get my gear changing better and get rid of the 18" T1R's ,i should be able to get a low 11 .Still have not got 1 good run in without messing up a gear change .
