J (FB) - as for the back end....lets say it was "wiggle wiggle" on the night......
As for all this power talk....who needs that much?.......
When are all these other mad machines going to be ready then ? Would be good to see them down the 1/4 mile. I shall brave the cold this Sunday (if it's dry) down at the Pod. If not this weekend next RWYB is 2 weeks after.
That will only leave the RCM NO2 system, sometime in March I guess.
and yes I will be on the strip
Mad,
Will try to make the last date in January.
Whats the best time you had so far at the strip?

Only 11.6, plenty of runs under 12 at the back end of last season but the main reason for slow times was DCCD stuck open, all sorted now so should stop the rears spinning up when launching. Also only had one morning @ final spec of 580. Driver practice is also required

SleeperSy & Hammer........ a friend of mine in Kent has just bought one of these from the States.
It's not "thee" car in the picture, but Steve's in an identical Pro Mod Vette running a fuel motor!.
He will be running in Pro Modified the latter part of 2009 at the pod, and will be doing some shakedowns at RWYB events soon.
Two of Steve's crew are real good mates of mine and if we are all up there some time I will introduce you to them. Friendly bunch of blokes.
They are aiming at mid to low 6's, but just having some teething probs at mo.

Hi Mad,
Your 11 second runs are true supercar terriotry - so dont under estimate them.
In 2007 I did a 10.9 - that was running a GT35 on a 2.5 in a 4 door classic with all road legal things in, like e/w all seats etc.(think it was 570bhp/540TQ) I only got into the 10s by changing to a wide ratio 6sp (06 STI UK), which effectively mean you can get c.130-2 in forth at 8000, so I raised the rev limit to 8250, but only rev to this in 4th to get me over the line. I did try many runs changing to fifth, or starting in second, but theses yielded slower times. (BTW was on 98+15% Methanol). I rekon a gear change will lose 0.3-0.7 on the strip - so the less you do the better.
2008 was a right off rebuilding the car. I removed about 100kg( whilst still keeping road legal), changed to 2.35 GT4088 - 8 injectors - full ALS and a bit of NOS, so hoping to improve on 10.9 this year although gearing is the same.
I have a different gearbox being built - but will not get this for a few months - hope to have it thou by SSO.
I love RWYB at the pod and went 9 or 10 times in 2007, so hope to see you up there soon. Or at the london meet.

I've ran a PB of 11.08 1/4 mile on crail in 2008....2004 UK STI with 2.5L CDB and GT3040....i hope to improve on this in 2009 when i get the long engine from Pennine Subaru.
I'm going for 1mm over size valve and port and polish heads from Chy plus i'm getting a 70MM TB fitted too.
Well here hoping.

11.08 is pretty impressive in a new age - was this time achieved with all the refinements on board i.e. all seats, spoiler etc?? What's the thought process going to long engine (bar the reducing of your 1/4 mile time) in terms of gains? Where will you see these?

For the run i took out all the seats bar the drivers seats LOL....but this year i've got a Recaro SPG fixed bucket ( light weight) for replacement.
The CDB was going to Chy for a freshing up and i wanted Chy to redo my heads as the previous built head(supertech valves in standard size) was not done to a high standard..So i wanted Chy opinion on the heads..he said thats bollox.
So on this rebuild Chy is putting in 1mm oversize Manley valves in instead as the previous valve are not in a good state for re-use.....plus i had cracks on both heads...LOL
Chy has source crack free WR1 heads for this build.
In terms of gain?...i don't really know but i want better response and more torque.....i haven't had a RR on last build.

You thinking of taking off the spoiler at all to further lighten it?
Also any thoughts on going up on the turbo? Are you running a rotated set up?
It will be interesting to run against you on the strip.
Interesting info there fella, I am on a WR1 UK 6 speed with DCCD and have needed 5th to get over the line which I know results in lower times. Watching video replays of previous runs it was very obvious that my launch with an open diff was losing me loads of time. If I can sneek it into the tens I will be happy, I know a good few others have managed it on a 6 speed. Like I said above the driver is the only weak point now

At SSO, there was a wagon that knocked into the 10's on a 6 speed as well. It was pretty stripped, but nonetheless proof it can be done with enough practise.
I got an 11.1 with a shakedown test at SS0 before we had a little trouble, and that's with a 30/40r.
So with a 35r, and nice warm R888's at the pod we should see you get a 10 easy!
Would be good to see everyone come out for a meet at the pod in spring..
Especially seeing Sy's car in action.
JP When's your beast going to be finished?...
Have you started on your build yet?...
Regarding Impreza on the strip, would it make sense to convert to rear wheel drive only?.
Surely it would prove a better launch as you can traditionally burn out to gain much more heat in the rear slicks?
Has that been tried by anyone ?
