LOL. Me and me boss had tears!

Assuming that none of it was pre-staged, then that was pure genius. The Gallic, bouncy nut.

Daz,

Perhaps he has been reading your "contribution" on the forums lately!
Fair enough if I had ever said a bad word about him or the projects he's been involved with but I haven't EVER, quite the opposite infact. I've also always recommended him and his company and in the past have not been able to speak highly enough of the two. He needs to take his head out of his **** if that's the reasoning behind his attitude change. Enough of that though, to me it matters not.

If indeed i've created some kind of problem that I don't know about that's warranted being completely ignored when I've said hello he's free to come and take that up with me anytime he wishes, as are you.

Anyway back to Clive's car. I think that when he gets the issues that Saturday highlighted sorted out the car will be very very capable indeed. Clive is an excellent driver and once it was pointed out to him that he should be driving it like he'd stolen it rather than driving it like the bloke that's had to pay for it all he really did start to get the best out of it. Both he and the car are capable of lots lots more.

Mr Fudge has some hidden driving skills which he may mot have mentioned, although in a completely different form of racing If we get another Scoobysprint series of some sort next year he can come and show a few of us how to do it !

Shame I missed all the fun this weekend but I have had a lot to sort out post wedding/honeymoon. All I managed with my car this weekend was to switch the trickle charger on Looking forward to the Shakespeare event on 1st Nov though. Hopefully some of you guys will be there.

My reply to you was in jest you plank! Perhaps he was *just* stressed out with the EVO..... he does not speak to me much when he is supporting the EVO and I spend shedload of cash with him!

Don't worry... I would certainly take anything up with you personally if I felt the need to. Unfortunately, you are yet to call me a w***** on the forums.

As you say, back to Clive.

You were lucky with yours mate !!

There are open pit track day at Snetters on Sat 21st Nov if u are interested?

Not sure on rad volumes?
Hi Clive

Not a bad hotel complete with Spa etc for the other half, where apparently they do facials. Hmmm. Had my wedding reception there, but dont remember getting one of those (thank God).

Snetterton sounds good - 21st Nov might be a goer- it would be good to get a P1 RCM 2004 stylee out against the '09 version. I'm pretty sure that the long straights will point out my relative lack of grunt, but anyway let me see if a new rad fixes my overheating problems first. Also considering an oil cooler.

I think I was lucky, but my 250 mile drive the day before was in torrential rain and my fear is that I didn't notice any steam then due to the spray and as i was, ahem, making progress. I tend to watch the defi oil temp gauge more than the oem water temp gauge these days, but, hopefully, I was alright. 6 speed allegedly causes the cars to run hotter anyway, due to filling out the transmission tunnel and blocking the exit of hot air, although i didn't notice a change straight after the swap.

It would be good to get it back on track,if alls well, and to experience the fudge mobile, as I haven't really been on a proper track day for a few years now due to the kids arriving. 30-130 doesnt count obviously as any fool can drive in a straight line

Cheers
J

Hi John.

Facials (lmao)

An Oil Cooler would prove a good investment mate. Your car may react like mine did as you too have an RCM lump.
We found that when driving (what I thought was fast), the oil temp remained between 100 - 110.
When I drove it like I would if I found out the misses was down the high street with my wallet, the oil temp was at 120 - 125 activating the Defi warning.

Would be good to meet up at a Snetters Track Day in Nov John.

When set up I will take you for a few mad ones, and see what you think ?

Keep me posted

LOL Madhammer, as I have mentioned before the P1 has been built for track and not so much for the strip matey. This was proved at Snetter's on Saturday.

Yep, sprints would be cool and I would love a go.

CJ, I never saw you there on Sunday ?? mind you I was in the pits or on the wall for much of the day.

If you could zoom in on that front tyre you would see the scars of a track day. Those tyres worked really well.

I have a CD full of action pix but have left them in the boot of the P1, and it's at RCM for a couple of weeks.

Will be collecting it when I return from overseas with :-

Air con removed
Launch Control
20% Meths mapping
Data Log activation
and an uprated Oil Cooler.

I had some some sooooooooooooooooper news over the weekend. Olly is going to show me what The Gobstopper is capable of sometime over the winter testing period.

I'm looking more forward to that than the holiday

and will obviously let you guys know what it was like.

I was referring to your other motorsport experience rather than your drag racing prowess Although I think your P1 without the issues you had at the POD on 'that day' will easily pop in a low 11.

Don't forget to look in that 'RCM box' for me matey

lol, I reckon that too Clive. Low eleven would be about bang on.

Yep, I will put the box of goodies in my boot when I collect the car and meet up with you on my way down fella.

Will let you know the date.

When I was "going for it" under race conditions back in 2006 at Snetterton (Tuner GP), I was literally stamping on brakes just as I hit the last brake marker. However, I was a much worse driver then and was only hitting 130mph (data logged) down the back straight with 370bhp back then. Those AP 6 pots were worth their weight in gold!

I have no idea how much later I could of broke on Thursday, as I never pushed the car at all or myself. I would be interested to see what speed I could get down the back straight without a passenger, proper exit from the previous right hander, full revs and high boost though.

I might get back there under a proper test day with my timing equipment, but I am fairly sure I need a license for that. Will have to find out and enquire how I can get hold of one (license that is). I also need to get Simon out with me on track so I can get some more much needed tuition.

Here is a video of one of my rather lazy laps from last week. I was in full cruise mode for the last 1/3 of the track!

Good fun though innit, going on track!

Yep you are right mneame. Although the tyres we realise that 888's would have provided better grip.

There is still may be some scope for improving the handling aswell and it will be interesting at the next track day at Snetter's on Sat 23rd Nov.

I know of at least two places I can make up time. Time will be gained when on my own as all setups and figures included a passenger at all times ranging from my wife to a helpful yeti.

lol @ yeti.

We both know the cars got more in it Clive. Get those two issues sorted and you're laughing. You need to enquire about what sump you have. If you haven't atleast got a baffled one then I think with triple 8's on you're going to start to see oil surge issues coming out of sears onto the back straight and that's an engine killer once that starts happening.

Clive,
Thanks.

AST 3 way adjustable - Low Speed, High Speed and rebound (12 adjustments on each setting, on each shock). I was very surprised how good the car felt, considering it is all set-up now with road biased spring rates and valving. The suspension used to be set-up more track focused prior to last year, with different valving and stiffer spring rates. It seems to work well now, as a very good compromise for road use and track driving. Since I have got the AST set-up right, this was the first time I have been on track.

The only thing I did was stiffen the rear's, high and low speed compression. Everything else was left untouched. I do run fairly aggresive geometry though, but that was mainly for the sprint work this year. -2.5degs Fr and -2.0degs Re.

Interesting, we had much better results running the rear end softer than the front.

Are you up Snetter's on 23rd or 29th Nov Shaun ?

Hie folks. Just sneaked up into the hotels bussiness centre.
No scoobz out here, have not seen one anywhere.

Heard some cool news today, there may be a 160mph hurricane heading this way. Will hang around to film it and load it up in the thread.
