If its the better of the two, how old is the linksyWRT54gs one mate, and will it definatly work with xbox live?

I prefer the linksys, however the dlink is probably easier to set up for the average non IT person.

Both are over a year old, router and power adapter available. interestingly the linksys is very light but the adapter weighs a tonne, whereas the dlink is the other way round. Would imagine it'll be £3 or so, I'd need to weigh it.

As far as xbox is concerned, idon't have one, both used with pc connectivity however not aware of anything specific that is required to support xbox. Iain will know he is a console gamer.

 

I have had both of those routers, and both worked fine with the xbox.

What is the power adapter?

 

No ethernet cables, if you need one they are cheap as chips from ebuyer etc.

I have the cd manuals however they can be downloaded from the respective manufacturer websites.

Power adapter? They don't run on batteries you know

Will any wireless adapter work or do i need the official xbox360 one? £55 seems a tad expensive

 

The xbox one is by far the easier to set up and use, (and it's quick). You can use wireless bridges (i.e. ones which you connect to the 360 via an ethernet cable), but you can't use normal old usb style wireless adapters. They don;t write 360 drivers for them

Just ordered all off amazon, cheeky sh*ts charged me £4.00 on a ethernet cable worth 3.99 only just realised when looking bak at the order.

 

Just got the router and i have just found out that there is no where to put the cable in the back of the computer tower, is there any wires i will have to take out first?

 

You either need an ethernet card in the computer (most motherboards have one built in these days but you can buy them as a pci card), or you can use a wireless usb dongle.
