Yes. You need one suitable for cable. Some can do both - that is ADSL broadband and Cable broadband. D

No! There are no guarantees in life other than death and taxes Just make sure you find and print the BranstonWest settings before you go unplugging. Then clean underpants and deep breath LOL

You can get ones based on a 100meg network card (although they claim to be 200meg).

The router you originally linked from Amazon.co.uk: Max Value 54 Mbps Cable Router, with Firewall & Filtering: Amazon.co.uk: is designed to work with your broadband and will give you wireless and wired access.

Alternatively, for the best wireless coverage. The whr-hp-g54 - Google Search is superior than the value amazon on both wireless range and performance.

You shouldn't need to change any of the VM/NTL settings. All you need to do is unplug the computer from the ethernet port on the back of the cable modem (or unplug the usb lead if you are using one of those), and plug the router into the ethernet socket instead using an ethernet cable. You then plug your compluter into the router with another ethernet cable, and have a wireless adapter for the 360.

Should take about 2-3 minutes to set up

As for routers, I'm currently using a Netgear ( NETGEAR WPN824 RangeMax Wireless Router ) which seems to work well. I've had a lot of trouble with d-link and linksys, so wouldn't recommend either of those makes...

It should do, (assuming your ntlworld modem has an ethernet port on the back?)

One between the modem and the router, and one between the router and your pc (assuming that's wired?). So 2. The 360 will be wireless so no cable required

Not to say I can do it better than anyone on here, but if you get stuck !

If they haven't set up security on their connection then there is no technical reason why not. You might be shaky ground legally though...

Depends - How would you feel about them connecting thier house phone to your phone line rather than use thier own line?

Ok

The modem needs to be cabled to the router. Thats the only cable you "need"

The pc and xbox can then be either wired or wireless. They in turn connect to the router by one of these methods.

I have a netgear router, Virgin connection and modem, and a Xbox official wireless sender.
Works like treat, and with a 4meg connection I can have PC/Lappy/Xbox connected with no drop in speed.
Also got my wii connected.
When you get a wireless router make sure you keep all your instructions and write your settings/ip/passwords down and keep them. Its surprising how many times you need this info.

Personally I'd get the netgear (not had good experiences with Belkin routers although I think some people on here have had success with them).

I have two spare that i used in a previous property on an ntl connection.

One is a Dlink DI624, the other is a Linksys WRT54gs, both are G routers.

Either one for a tenner plus postage.

Bargain I`d go for the latter.
