Is there a massive performance difference between the AMD 64x2 TK55 and the Intel Core 2 Duo 2ghz?

I like the Fujitsu laptops, I have a work laptop which was the top S series model at the time (7110 core 2 duo centrino 2ghz with all the toys) when given it and think its the best laptop i've had/used. I have emailed work to ask if I can buy one for personal use but it will either be no or if they say yes will still be about £1k to buy. I currently take it home and use it as it's so good but its still not the same as having your own and bearing in mind it has to go on the network you have to be very careful what you browse on it. Top bit of kit though.

Yep thats the same issue i've found, spec above is great but video card lets it down and what I spec'd as above with decent video card was at least £700.

Well doing a search for the X3100 obviously its not a gaming card but it does handle so it seems a lot of the recent games all be it in low detail. So enough to play the odd game on.

Ah thanks, didn't notice that as thought they were all buy it now. The Mrs is looking at the pink one now as her HP laptop had given up the ghost. Wonder if they do a discount if I want two

I've been looking for the above spec but with the 256mb 8600 video card but doesn't look he's got any, if I could find exaclty above and the 256 card i'd get one I think. Still tempted with the above but the 8600 video card seems quite a lot better.

Could spec it with dell with the better card but would be £664 and have bluetooth as well. Extra £100 for the better video card and bluetooth. Hmmmm.

Cheers, have emailed his to see if he has ever seen the above spec with the 8600 card because if not and they never crop then i'll be waiting a long time. Is the 8600 worth changing to or is the performance increase only marginal? I'm not going to be playing all the latest games on it, just want to put some of my old Novalogic Delta Force games on it that I used to be into.

Well it looks for me spec'ing the above direct with Dell with the 256mb card and you also get Bluetooth as well and a bigger hard drive. Comes out at £664 all in. Only until 9th of January then it goes back to over £800 The link above is great but i'd be always wishing i'd gone for the better card and the ebay bloke didn't come back to me when I asked about him getting any 1720's in with the 256mb card.

I really don't think its going to be possible to beat that price for that spec anywhere as other places for similar spec I have looked at don't even come close.

I asked on the Dell live chat today how long it would take to build and deliver and was told if I ordered it today it would be with me by the 18th January or sooner.


Edit: Just bought the above from Dell, couldn't resist any longer My main desktop at home is 6 years old (p4) so time I upgraded.

To be honest its worth more to me to keep as storage and download box than sell for peanuts. Its a p4 2.4 1.5gb of ram and 9800 pro video card so still ok for running older games and doing stuff on so probably wont get rid of it.
