Does anyone use BTOpenworld connect anytime with a router. (I know there is a LAN option...)
There should not be any difference between a router and an ISDN card and as such you should be able to connect to Openworld anytime with a router.
We can't, but can connect to it using a modem.
Does anyone know if you absolutley can not connect using a router, BT say you should be able too but just don't support it.

You should be able to. Its a case of getting the Router MAC address recognised by the system instead of the ISDN card one.
Not sure about BTOW, but on NTL with C/M, I unplugged the C/M from the power and network for about 4 hours. Then I reconnected it with the router in place and it synch'd up straight away.

Figment, not sure I follow you there.
Actually I am trying to find this out for a customer who has never had an ISDN card installed, if you are suggesting that an ISDN cards MAC address was linked to the user details and as a result failing because a different device was trying to log in then I don't think thats the case. He has only just signed up and his router was the first device to try to connect, we did connect with the modem but after a number of attempts with router(s).
I would have thought the router would just work.
We get PPP PAP failures. Seems odd, I think we are being authenticated OK as if I change the password to be incorrect we get an authentification realted error in the logs.

ISDN - So its dial-up anytime ?
Think Figment may be confusing MAC address with some cable/adsl solutions.
If its a cisco the main problem is that by default it will attempt to authenticate both ways. BT end will obviously not attempt to authenticate itself to you so it will fail. If it is Cisco I'll post a dialer config example that should work for most ISDN PPP ISPs (well it works for Freeserve )

Edit - You replied whilst I was copy/pasting - Its the equivalent of the "pap callin" and "pap sent-username" you need. Aplogies but I've never used a netopia so cant help beyond that.

I use a 3Com OfficeConnect ISDN LAN Modem (aka no frills router) with a 3Com OC Firewall 25 to dial-up BTi Anytime from home. Works a treat and instant re-dial on link failure is very handy.

Same number I think, but would need to check.
What about trying the same account on the PAYG number?

Ar$e, I get the auth failure despite using the same details that work using a modem plugged into the analogue ports of the same router...
