Was good last night until someone used the TOW on Lieviathan (sp!) - then it crashed - wasn't as busy post that, we had to restart it. We've removed the two maps from BF2 SF rotation that cause server crashes now.

Well - I'm having a crap day so far... can't hit anything and the number of spawn kills has been ridiculous... people deilberately sat at spawn points targetting people the moment they appear.... grrrr....

I was doing quite well last night.. right until I started losing connection again.. it seems to be certain maps that cause it.
I keep trying diffrerent kits out, but I'm so crap I just get killed almost instantly if I'm anything but an anti-tank guy (and not a lot longer when I am!). I can get away with the support kit and may be the Special Ops - 'cos then I just sneak off and blow things up - anything else: not a hope.

I didn't realise what time it was last night. Got a right ear bashing when I came off! 
Good fun last night. Although the last map I played we lost cause of my 1337 commanding skillz
I do hate it when the server switches you to another team though. It always does it to me when I'm in a good squad and doing well for a change

I've decided that I'm going to spend some time offline learning how to fly - i have to rely on someone to get me around and I know I'm missing out on the fun.
Does anyone know an easy way for the Spec Ops guy to get more ammo without having to hunt down a support guy or beg the commander for a supply drop?

I've pretty much mastered the transport choppers, but still getting used to the attack choppers (as JonBoy will confirm - I drowned him last night

Short of hunting down a previous supply drop, there isn't any other way - short of killing yourself and re-spawning.

How do you play single player and get the aircraft?
As far as I have tried, I can only play the 16 player sized maps and they don't have the aircraft in them? Or am I not picking the correct map?

FYI new patch was released recently, v1.20.
Install order:
- install BF2
- install BF2 SF (if you have it)
- install latest 'full' patch
Things that may causes problems:
- virtual drive s/w running in background
- AV or F/W pop-up warnings or f/w rules blocking BF2
- dodgy GFX drivers
- Punkbuster install may not 'work' (see previous posts about PB update from evenbalance.com).

May be worth commenting about your issues on our clan site (more BF people view that who had issues and resolved them in the past).

I had thought about starting my own server, but then you don't get the bots and thus nothing to shoot at!
But it coul be usful just to try and get to grips with the flying.

Just to confirm - I used an offline account to play on earlier and did have aircraft available on a 16 player map... you're right: flying the transport chopper is pretty easy
I really hope to be there for that - i had a VERY frustrating time last night - bunch of idiots just targetting the two spawn points for the yanks on Wake Island... you simply couldn't even get started
