I don't see why it wouldn't go, the 20G cover is no bigger externally than the 18G as can be seen from this picture of Andy's website:

However, as described on my thread on 22B there are a few things to move about in order to do it and you may not want to start messing about so close to the start of the season.
Andrew...
hello, flat4, do you understand portuguese? I don't think so, because your translation is so, so wrong.
we were comparing evo 8 and my05 sti suspensions, the owner of the evo said his car was very stiff, and the owner of the sti said when he drives is subaru in bad roads when he gets out looks like he has parkinson.
I've talked about graham's scooby with some guys of the club, because I think his car is great and I put a photo of his subaru next to the evo in the forum, but no one talked trash about the cars or the drivers, so please don't write lies ( this word is too strong but my english isn't the best so sorry if I offended you ).

No!
Flat4 (Kev) is about right!
But we will see as Kev shows me how it's done this year. It seems i will have a lot of (young) teachers trying to show me the new tricks...
Andrew:
Just thinking about Otober on this year. Once AndyF has tweeked the car it is left alone except the suspension and maybe a gearbox(
)
Besides, I need the time to prepare myself for Lessons from Kev..

Well i near enough put mine into a ditch without even getting to a track.
(field of neaps (turnips for you Graham)). And speaking of clutches, took the plunge and went for a twin. Cheers Adam
New pistons arrived the other day so looks like the engine will be rebuilt before the car see's any tarmac, or ditches...
Told the old man last night he needs to put the imp back together so i can have the garage. Maybe it'll be a father & son combo on the hills....although i think the imps hayday has long gone. He has contemplated changing the twinspark in the g15 for a 2 wheeled variety though....
Any suggestions on where to send the heads for porting to match the bottom end?
Back home on the 12th May for 4 wks so i'll see if i can get some pics/reports on how i fair if anyones interested. No time for a project thread, it'll be all basic stuff anyway and covered many times already no doubt.

I would think about the same as 'today', @ 380bhp.
The purpose of the FMIC was really to stop heat soak into the TMIC reducing the bhp on a hill climb run.
After a 50 second blast in competition, the TMIC was almost untouchable (so about 60+ Deg C), thus, i expect to hold '380' for much longer.
The last mapping was with the sports cat on, this time i have the decat in plce sp maybe we can hold 1.4 bar for longer into the rev range.
Full report when done.
There are 4 or 5 cars booked in with Andy over the 2 days so a bit of fun.

Spent the morning tarting the car for the mapping.
Hovered a years worth of hill climbing junk from the inside but the rest is all ready for Andy.
Fingers crossed..

Before you all start, during hill climbing the front numberplate will be removed.
I didn't have the guts to stick one on the bonnet.
Hope this will be the view the EVO will see sometime soon in 2006..

Graham..
Its looking good mate, so you have been trying to get the wieght down,
Q. Is the new ruling ref, 3 inch harness straps going to effect hillclimb/sprints, have not got my liecence yet (this week i hope), hence no blue book, came into effect as of 01 jan 06..

Errr, not sure, but the 3'' are so much more comfortable than the 2'' believe me.(even on a hill climb dash)
I would think all belts will be 3 '' after 2006.
On some old race seats, the slots wont pass 3''.
When I stuffed my 911 at Shelsley Walsh the 2'' cut both shoulders and bruised significantly.
Go for 3''.
you still coming to Loton?
(lets hope PSLewis isn't!)

Graham, you've got it all wrong mate...... you don't want the Evo to see the back of your car.... that'd mean he's caught you up on the run..... you really want him to see you looming large in HIS rear view......
I trust you mean the Scooby Hillclimb and Sprint?
I do not know, but the entries for the Curborough Meeting will be possibly CLOSED by now, maybe a week to go.
Not a disaster by any means.
I am sure Terry will be pushing things along asap.

Did the Mapping Day Out with AndyF, and it was not without its excitment...
Andy arrived and linked everything up as 'usual' and off we went along the route as last year, car running nice, warming up well.
Then there was no boost. Car running great too!
The circlip that holds the turbo actuator link to the wategate had dropped off!
It was there yeaterday!!
We cruised home and off i went to find a circlip from the local shop. Stripped it all doen, FMIC pipes and all and got it all back together.
Gerry and Ian had arrived by this time, so we were running LATE.
Mapping commenced and immediatly the car was 'flowing' stronger.
We managed 1.5 bar at 3800! (and about 1 bar at 3100) with that held way into the rev range, about 6500 and then tailing off to 1.3 ish.
What is all this about lagg increasing with a FMIC?
Anyway, coming back gave it death for a confirmation run and BANG; the bottom cooler hose blew off in the middle of a 1.5 bar charge. No power, and miles from home, but it all popped back in place and we got home ok.
So, a bit to do this weekend, bumper off and re-do all the pipes, but the car is great, with gobs of mid-range torque (gearbox?) and screams out to 7000 still feeling it wants to pull harder and further.
20g's Rule!
Gerry's 2.5 with Type R trans was next, but this proved hard to get to run smoothly above 1.25 bar. Andy thinks he has the answer, but it ran great. Interesting to see an ACVR being programmed too.
Ian's Type R was the third, but not before Adam turned up to meet with Andy, nice to meet you..hope that engine sells soon.
Ian's car got the new Apexi and the mapping. Interesting car, stock ancillaries but steel engine and strong internals, sounded great and ran very hard @ 1.3 bar.
Quite a day for us all; makes you a bit
buzzing about in endless ''give it full throttle from 3000 to 6500 in 2, 3 ,4th gear...again''.
Just a few snaps of the cars in the cold air:

Sounds like you had a fun filled exciting day graham..... at least you got the mapping done before the pipe blew off.... that would have only delayed things further.....
Do the i/c pipes have a 'swelling' on the end... ( there's a name for it but i can't remeber it).??? if not, maybe you could get somethign sorted.... a bead of weld would be adequate....
Anyway, i bet you're all pumped up with the goins on af the day....... sold that 911 gearbox yet..... you might need the cash if you've got a bootfull of torque....!!

Ron:
'Swage' is the word you want!
Yes, all the pipes are swaged, but obviously I need to find a better way.
David at API uses hairspray over the pipes and slides the parts together, then the clamp.
The spray dries and leaves a film of hard sealing varnish which gives a greater fit to the parts. Roughing the pipe surfaces helps too.
Didn't get round to the 911 box being sold, but starting a Gearbox Kitty now..
Pugs:
look at www.hdlcc.com for info.
Driving skills? Not me!

Thats the word Graham, maybe you need a washer welding on each end of the pipe, and a strip of steel/alloy with two bolts on it to hold the pipes on..... you don't want it coming off on the startline do you.... (didn't really need to point out the obvious
).....
Let us know what solution you end up with..... wider clamps??

Great day Graham. Thanks for your hospitality (again). Hot coffee and warm loo were ideal on a bitterly cold day

Thanks, of course, to Andy F for another good mapping session. He must have nerves of steel, sitting in the passenger seat watching the rear ends of vehicles getting ever closer, ever faster
. "I was only following orders ociffer". Somehow I don't think would carry much sway in court
Hope you had a safe journey home Andy. And nice to meet Ian and his very nice v4 Type R.
Gerry
ah ha ... so its not just me who has problems ( I all of a sudden feel that little bit better after my disaster )
glad to see it all went right in the end
I will be honest I even looked for your thread before my mate dragged me out for a beer
http://www.powerengineering.co.uk/mikalor/ so im in if you organise a group buy
I use hair spry for all the silicon but wouldn't say it adds much to resitance of blowing off, nice and slippy to put on though
