Wagoneers, have your say here.

1, Why did you choose a Wagon instead of a Saloon?
The saloon i went to see was sold 1 hour before. Was sick of looking at heaps, and the wagon was tidy with low miles. Was slightly cheaper.
2, What have you done with your Wagon that you could not do in a saloon?
Put the dog in the boot
3, Is your wagon a stealth machine or an 'in yer face' Scooby.
Stealth at the moment.....
4, Do you wave at other Scoobies?
Yep
5, Do other Scoobies wave at you?
sometimes, most stare like im mad
6, Would you buy me some new wheels for my wagon?
Ha ha!

There seems to be different opinions on Wagons/owners so this thread is aimed at letting you put things straight.
When I bought my Wagon (95MY JDM Impreza WRX Auto) I did so for practical reasons.
I have a Great Dane (a real Scooby-Do) and a handful of sons, so a saloon was out of the question, I wanted an auto because I am an old git and couldn't be bothered changing gears any more. (been driving since 1967!!).
Let's start things rolling with a few questions.

1.Prefer subtle looks of Wagon
2. Carry 3 kids and loads of luggage anywhere. Lots of trips to Garden Centre and tip
3.Stealth other than clear indicators
4. Hell yes
5.Occasionally
6. Hell no
Anyone know the ratio of saloons to wagons?

1) I wanted something discrete after owning 3 Impreza saloons, so bought a Forester!
2) ARB to improve handling. Springs planned to remove the Forester boaty handling! (other mods such as wheels, exhaust, etc would have been done! )
3) Unless you are Palatine, Foresters are normally discrete!
4) I do to and from meets, but Impreza owners don't normally clock a Forester.
5) Nope, it's a generic 4x4 not a Subaru!

1. I don't think my punters would appreciate a car with Sydney Opera House perched on the boot.
2. Got a double matress in once.
3. Now rather unstealthy with STI scoop and side air dams, 18" superleggeras, grille, lowering springs and a flashing green light which I would recommend to everybody. And if they were blind the full decat and bigger turbo and STi8 ancilleries would let them know.
4. Always.
5. Usually.
6. I've some cheap, hardly used Rota Tarmac 2's if you're interested...
..and if I knew how to attach piccies I would do so.

1. Loved the shape, more discreet - well it was when we bought it new in 2000.
2. Put an STI Wagon rear spoiler on it, allowed Subarman to get changed in it (he has a big cape).
3. Stealth ish - lowered, 18's, Prodrive blingy brakes, noisy.
4. Yes if in the Turbo, but I also run a 1.8GL Wagon, and would not dream of waving in that - owners might think I was a Wannabe.
5. Yes in the Turbo - no in the GL.
6. You can have the original steels off the GL if you like.
Great thread by the way!!!

2. Lugged sets of wheels, plus a car-full of v. heavy record boxes around with no problems at all. WOuldn't even think of doing that with a saloon. And with the load cover off you needn't get out of the car to chuck stuff in the boot!
3. Absolutely stealth and bog standard-looking apart from a 'Ring sticker on the boot and an STi back box which looks factory anyway. Factory rims, factory suspension, H&S exhaust from up-pipe back. Even specially ordered a set of black Samco hoses for the intercooler so they wouldn't be noticeable. The stealth factor is probably the best thing about it.
4. Yes
5. Yes, mostly
6. No. I didn't even buy any for myself!

Wilkoca - what a lovely Wagon you have.
The only qualifications you need are that you have to be mad, and enjoy saluting a lot. We regularly have "adventures". Some of these are featured in True Grip, the magazine of SIDC. I'm sure the Squadron Leader will be on here soon. I cannot say more without authority from him.............................
