Unhappy Help required with a problem type ra limited 99

Just bought a type Ra STI limited edition 99.

Got two problems:

1 To much play in gear stick when in gear.

2 Clutch pedel stayed fully in depressed position and required manually pulling back up and since then i struggle to find any gear without force .
When in idle and clutch is pressed fully down in gear I can hear a wheering noise and smell burning clutch aswell as smoke ??

Only had the car 1 hr so took back to dealer and his machanics say its the clutch which needs replacing and some kind of knuckle joint in gear linkage thats broke away ,so booked in for next week.

Not sure I totally agree as there is no loss in friction on clutch plate?

Can you let me know the correct clutch part number so i can make sure they order the right one!!

Cheers all

Andy

Make sure the secondary release return spring is still there from the slave lever to a brkt under the intercooler, to the right of the intake pipe to the manifold.

Had a similar prob on mine but this cured it.

Cheers

yeah, they probably just put that on as a selling point but if it is like ours with extra leightweight bumper bonnet and spoiler then put a brick on it on breezy days!

SIMB you asked about Octane booster well I have only ever used optimax and had import scoobs for 4 years with no problems.

Too all Type R owners What do you do with your centre diffs?
I find my car much scarier than my WRX was (but fun in the dry!) I leave my diff set fully back as don't want to damage it but have tried it 2 click forward (1st orange) which put the drive forward and a bit more understeer but it clonked when I turned into my road! Some people leave them and others change them if the road is wet ect your advise please.
Cheers Col
hi i like yourself drive with the diff set fully back, as also have had the clonking noise when i park in the drive.i've found also with the diff set fully back gives a better performance drive, cheers lee.
