Looks like the UK has now caved in and will now accept a reduced delivery from AZ so the EU can get more.

I dont see anything about UK offering UK plants to supply Eu until after Contracts have been satisfied.
Has I said before, jealousy of UK. I dont see Eu threatening USA with same arrangements to fulfill domestic vaccines first
If VDL,I say VDL because she doesn't have the backing of countries to block UK, UK will most likely retaliate cutting off base ingredients. It will be many months to scale up production

The EU has also exported almost nothing to the USA, the USA is self sufficient, the UK is not!
The UK placed only a small order with Pfeizer and Moderna and betted heavily on AZ, what the UK is taking from the Pfeizer supply to the EU barely scratches the surface. Pfeizer is by far currently the biggest supply in EU while AZ supplies are quite limited. Moderna have had major production problems and are now only just starting to come online. J&J are now also ramping up production in the EU which as a single dose which doesn't need the cold storage will make a huge impact.
Looks like Johnson has agreed to stop taking AZ from EU as long as the UK still gets its Pfeizer doses! Shame he couldn't have done that in February rather than pursuing his policy of being greedy, then the whole affair could have been avoided! Nobody is going to able to travel and fully open up the economy until all countries have adequate vaccination to suppress the spread of the disease and restrictions can be eased, so greedily vaccinating your own country first is ultimately futile!

This should give the EU something to moan about, the UK making its own vaccine. Wonder if Dominic Cummings arranged it during his visit

More bad press for the AZ vaccine, now Canada have blocked it for under 55s over blood clots!
https://www.theguardian.com/world/20...those-under-55
Germany is also reporting 31 cases of rare CSVT blood clots, all but two cases are Women and all under the age of 65, In some Berlin immunisation centres they have now also stopped vaccinating women under 55.
While I would still say the risks vs benefits are probably worth continuing its use, there certainly seems to be something amiss!

You do realise that the actual percentage is like 0.005% Incidence. Statistically irrelevant.
So you better stop living, driving, opening a can of food. The chances of serious injury is higher

[QUOTE=BMWhere?;12102046]There are no ifs or buts about it.
The vaccine has been proved to be safe. Its terrible misfortune for those who have had issues. But they haven't been attributed to the vaccine, they could have had clots for many reasons.
Pfizer has a slightly higher reported figure than AZ, but again statistically insignificant

OK Doctor Andy, I'll take your expert word for it and ignore anything the idiots at Paul Ehrlich Institute in Germany advise! Thanks for clearing that up

The EMA, WHO, MHRA. and lets not forget, the millions of recipients that haven't had thrombosis.
The current stats are 1 incident per 100000 in the UK and 1 per 84000 for Europe.
Statistically insignificant.
Maybe the EU has upset AZ, cant think why

Need to edit that...31 cases in 2.7 million!!
Grab 2.7million random people and I bet you will find a number will have underlying issues that would cause a thrombosis.

Finally British news is now highlighting how indoor spread occurs.
Been saying it all along (https://www.scoobynet.com/1061100-co...l#post12091960 )...the plastic dividers, distancing, masks, whatever just buys time indoors. The longer spent inside, the bigger the risk of transmission.
Proven when a quarantine hotel caused transmission from one room to an adjacent room when both doors were opened at the same time.
Now pubs/restaurants are bypassing indoor rules by having marquees. But if closed sided and no through-breeze they are no safer than being indoors.
